An arrest. Stanford surrenders to FBI.
R. Allen Stanford, under investigation in an alleged $8 billion fraud involving sales of certificates of deposit through his Antiguan bank, surrendered to federal agents yesterday, his attorney said.
The case is one of the largest alleged financial frauds in U.S. history and comes just months after New York financier Bernard L. Madoff pleaded guilty to charges in a Ponzi scheme of up to $50 billion.
Stanford, 59, was taken into custody yesterday by FBI agents who were waiting outside his girlfriend's house in Fredericksburg, Va., said Dick DeGuerin, an attorney for the Texas financier.
"Federal agents in black SUVs surrounded his girlfriend's house this afternoon, and just sat there," DeGuerin said. "I told him to walk out and introduce himself. So he did, and he asked them, 'If you've got a warrant, take me into custody. If you don't, I'm going to Houston.' And they did, so they arrested him."

In one of the most contentious sections of his thoroughly contentious Cairo speech, Obama declared: “Palestinians must abandon violence. Italian authorities have not yet determined whether they are real or fake, but if they are real the attempt to take them into Switzerland would be the largest financial smuggling operation in history; if they are fake, the matter would be even more mind-boggling because the quality of the counterfeit work is such that the fake bonds are undistinguishable from the real ones.

Big volcano ready to erupt in Indonesia??
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Small eruptions of Mt Anak Krakatau, the volcano in the Sunda Strait near Lampung province, till Wednesday were reported to have recorded a tremendous increase during the past few days, while the status of the volcano remained at the third level of alertness.
At least 828 small eruptions were recorded to have happened on the volcano with 63 volcanic quakes, 434 tremors and 366 times of emission in the past six days, said Anto Prambudi, head of Mt Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post in Pasauran village, Serang district, Banten province, on Wednesday.
According to him, in the past five days the volcanic quake of Mt Anak Krakatau showed a rise in its activity. In fact, the frequency of the quake and small eruptions took place in every three minutes interval.

BBC caught in mass public deception with Iran propaganda
The BBC has again been caught engaging in mass public deception by using photographs of pro-Ahmadinejad rallies in Iran and claiming they represent anti-government protests in favor of Hossein Mousavi.
An image used by the L.A. Times on the front page of its website Tuesday showed Iranian President Ahmadinejad waving to a crowd of supporters at a public event.
In a story covering the election protests yesterday, the BBC News website used a closer shot of the same scene, but with Ahmadinejad cut out of the frame. The caption under the photograph read, ‘Supporters of Mir Hossein Mousavi again defied a ban on protests’.
The BBC photograph is clearly a similar shot of the same pro-Ahmadinejad rally featured in the L.A. Times image, yet the caption erroneously claims it represents anti-Ahmadinejad protesters.

New H1N1 strain found in Brazil
SAO PAULO - BRAZILIAN scientists have identified a new strain of the H1N1 virus after examining samples from a patient in Sao Paulo, their institute said on Tuesday.
The variant has been called A/Sao Paulo/1454/H1N1 by the Adolfo Lutz Bacteriological Institute, which compared it with samples of the A(H1N1) swine flu from California.

Was the Iranian election a fraud?
That’s what our great western media sources want us to believe. While scanning through the coverage, I could not find one mainstream news article which covered the election results in an objective, unbiased manner. Either prominently displayed in the title or first paragraph, each of the articles suggest the election was a fraud.
It’s worth noting that Iran, unlike the US, does not use electronic voting machines which are easily tampered with. They actually have paper ballots. It’s also important to point out the health of their electoral process. They had an 85% turnout! We, “the champions of democracy” turnout only a fraction of that percentage for our presidential elections. In fact 2 out of 3 American citizens find something better to do during election day. Initially this website was taken in by reports alleging a potential landslide win for Mousavi. It soon became apparent however, that the Western mainstream media was acting in unison over the Iranian election. Together with Mousavi’s alleged links with neocon Michael Ledeen, it seems that we are seeing a disinformation campaign to discredit the Iranian election on par with the one to promote the fable of Saddam’s Weapon’s of Mass Destruction.
As we now know, that ultimately proved false but paved the way for the invasion of Iraq.

NORAD and NORTHCOM exercise planned for 6/18-24
PETERSON AFB, Colo. – North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command are planning to conduct a combined exercise June 18 - 24 that will incorporate several military exercises with a National Guard exercise. These linked exercises are referred to as ARDENT SENTRY 09. Events will take place in multiple venues across the country including Iowa, Kansas, Oregon, Wyoming, and off the East and West Coasts.
The exercise will allow several Department of Defense organizations and some federal and state partners to implement plans and respond to a variety of notional events. Historically, exercises like these have helped both DoD and other agencies review their processes and procedures and focus their future training efforts on closing gaps and identifying areas that need additional attention.
Major AS 09 venues include:
- NORAD’s AMALGAM DART exercise involving air defense activities at Camp Rilea, Oregon;
- The National Guard’s VIGILANT GUARD exercise focused on civil support with major activities in Des Moines, Iowa and Topeka, Kansas; and,
- A Nuclear Weapons Incident exercise (NUWAIX) with a U.S. Air Force response near Cheyenne, Wyoming;

US intel rivalry flares over British connection
The CIA station in London is at the center of a bitter fight between different branches of the US intelligence community in Washington DC.

Mitchell proposes land swap plan
In some versions of the following report, Mitchell proposes a swap of the Galilee triangle (a region where Israeli Palestinians predominate) for the major Israeli settlement blocks.
