Admiral Tarmo Kouts, who heads European Union's piracy watch, tells Time Magazine Israel was most likely responsible for hijacking of Arctic Sea in an attempt to intercept Mideast bound missile delivery

A European source claimed in a recent interview with Time Magazine, that Israel was responsible for the hijacking of Russian cargo ship the Arctic Sea since it was suspected of carrying an arms shipment to the Middle East, Ynet learned Wednesday.

The Arctic Sea went missing in July while en route from Finland to Algeria. Its disappearance sparked reports of a first incident of piracy in European waters in modern times. The Russian Navy has since located the ship, arrested the alleged hijackers and charged them with kidnapping and piracy, but Admiral Tarmo Kouts, the European Union's rapporteur on piracy, now claims the Arctic Sea was intercepted by Israel as it carried a secret cargo of weapons to the Middle East.

Russia has adamantly denied the ship was carrying any kind of military supplies.

Nevertheless, Kouts told Time that only a shipment of missiles could account for Moscow's "bizarre" behavior throughout the month-long saga: "There is the idea that there were missiles aboard, and one can't explain this situation in any other way. As a sailor with years of experience, I can tell you that the official versions are not realistic."

"The most likely explanation is that the Israelis intercepted this cargo, which had been meant for Syria or Iran," said Yulya Latynina, a prominent political commentator and radio host on Echo of Moscow, a station owned by state-controlled gas giant Gazprom.

"They will now use the incident as a bargaining chip with Russia over weapons sales in the region, while allowing Russia to save face by taking its empty ship back home."

According to the report in Time, both the Israeli Prime Minister's office and Mossad, declined comment.

President Obama called on Americans on Tuesday to take common-sense steps to help contain the expected impact of swine flu, including staying home from work when they are sick, frequently washing their hands, and covering their sneezes with a sleeve instead of a hand.

Obama told reporters in the Rose Garden that the federal government is taking a coordinated approach to fighting the expected outbreak, including ramping up what he says will be a "voluntary but strongly recommended" H1N1 flu vaccination program.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) on Wednesday said it was residents' "patriotic duty" to get seasonal flu shots in coming weeks to make it easier for health officials to determine if outbreaks are related to H1N1, or swine flu.

If residents do not get vaccinated against seasonal strains and later get sickened by them as a result, there will be little way to determine if those falling ill this fall and winter have been infected by less worrisome strains, or by the more contagious H1N1 virus, O'Malley said.

The governor characterized that scenario as serious because it could stress supplies of antiviral treatments and other resources needed to care for swine flu victims, since only those Marylanders sick enough to be hospitalized may undergo tests to confirm the presence of swine flu, state health officials said.

"You'll be doing your patriotic duty to get your seasonal flu shot this year," O'Malley said. If you've never received one, "by golly, this is a very good year to do it for the first time," he said.

Steven J. Rosen’s defamation lawsuit against the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is now entering a critical phase. A series of cross-filings stakes out the critical court terrain. Rosen intends to show that obtaining and leveraging classified U.S. government information in the service of Israel is common practice at AIPAC. He claims it was unfair for AIPAC to fire and malign him in the press after he was indicted on espionage charges in 2005. AIPAC’s defense team is committed to getting the case thrown out on technicalities before it goes to trial early next year.

On March 2, 2009, Rosen filed the civil lawsuit against his former employer, directors, and an outside public relations firm for libel and slander. Rosen, AIPAC’s former foreign policy chief, seeks $5 million in damages from AIPAC, and punitive damages of $500,000 from each former board member, for a total claim of $21 million. AIPAC made statements to the news media Rosen believes were "knowingly false and defamatory and issued in reckless disregard." AIPAC fired Rosen and fellow employee Keith Weissman after they were criminally indicted under the 1917 Espionage Act in 2005. Both were caught up in an FBI sting operation receiving classified information from Department of Defense employee Col. Lawrence Franklin, who pled guilty and turned state’s witness. After years of pretrial maneuvers during which presiding Judge T.S. Ellis steadily raised the standards for conviction, U.S. government prosecutors reluctantly dropped [.pdf] their case in May 2009.

In the Guardian recently , Carlo Strenger launched yet another defence of Israel as the democracy in the Middle East. His defence of himself is that he opposes 'many of Israel's policies' and fights the occupation 'day by day' but this is only the occupation of land seized and plundered in 1967 and not the land seized and plundered in 1948. Much of this land was never allocated to the state of Israel in the first place and the sovereignty conferred on Israel gave the Zionists no right to take it from its owners. Had they remained, a different kind of democracy would have developed in Palestine, one in which the indigenous people would have retained control of their land through the ballot box. That was why they had to go.

Nothing less democratic can be imagined than the denial of the right even to live in the land of one’s birth. The Palestinian ‘refugees’ did not ‘emigrate’. They were not fleeing an oppressive political system. They were the majority and they were hounded out of their country because only without them could the ‘democracy’ known as Israel come into existence.

Mr Strenger implies that Palestinian Muslim or Christian citizens of Israel enjoy the same rights as Jewish citizens. Of course they don’t. Free speech and the right to vote are not the sum total of democracy. Institutional and structural racist discrimination against ‘the Arabs’ extends from the top to the bottom of Israeli society. It applies to land use and is reflected in health, welfare and education statistics and municipal grants and services provided to local communities. It is consecrated in the laws of the land and the rulings of the courts.

IOF fires on medics in violation of geneva convention

Mo’tasem Awad, in charge of the International Humanitarian Law department at the Red Crescent stated that Israeli soldiers opened fire at Red Crescent medics while they were trying to approach a wounded child who died of his wounds.

The child, Mohammad Riyadh Nayef, 15, from al Jalazoun refugee camp, was shot and seriously wounded on Tuesday after a round of live ammunition hit him in the chest.

As medics tried to approach the child, the army opened fire at them, and a soldier told one of the medics that "the army does not need anybody’s help, we have an ambulance on its way".

It took the Israeli ambulance nearly 90 minutes to reach the area, and its medics took the child to an Israeli hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Berlin - German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy called Monday for tougher sanctions against Iran, if the country fails enter talks on its nuclear programme ahead of a September deadline. 'We have supported (US) President Obama's outstretched hand to the Iranian leaders, but this hand cannot remain extended indefinitely to leaders who do not respond,' Sarkozy added. Speaking after talks in Berlin, Both leaders said discussions on further sanctions would take place in September, should Iran refuse to cooperate. Merkel said a broad range of sanctions would be applied, in areas including energy supply. Both leaders agreed that it was crucial for the international community to present a joint front. Many states in the West believe Iran is using its nuclear programme to develop weapons, a charge which Tehran denies.

An Israeli cabinet minister has categorically confirmed that construction and expansion of illegal Jewish settlements in and around Jerusalem (al-Quds) will continue.

Speaking on September 1 at a conference entitled "Preserving Jerusalem and the Golan Heights”, Yossi Peled of the ruling Likud Party repeated what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said during his recent visit to Germany, namely that Jerusalem is the “eternal and united capital of Israel” and that there would be no freeze whatsoever on the construction of settlements.

The minister without portfolio, who is a Belgian immigrant, insisted that the Jews would continue to live and build in and around the city, which was captured from the native Arabs by military force, Israel's Ynet News reported.

Israel recently announced that it would accept a temporary freeze on settlements but that it would never accept a permanent halt to the construction of Jewish settlements on occupied territories, despite the prohibitions of international law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and worldwide condemnation.

Iran nuclear threat 'hyped', El Baradai

WASHINGTON: Mohamed ElBaradei, the outgoing head of the UN atomic watchdog, called the threat from Iran "hyped" and said there was no evidence that the Islamic republic will soon have nuclear weapons.

In an interview released Tuesday, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) hit back at critics who accuse the Egyptian of covering up Iran's nuclear ambitions.

"In many ways, I think the threat has been hyped," ElBaradei told the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, a Chicago-based magazine critical of nuclear weapons. "Yes, there's concern about Iran's future intentions and Iran needs to be more transparent with the IAEA and international community," he said.

"But the idea that we'll wake up tomorrow and Iran will have a nuclear weapon is an idea that isn't supported by the facts as we have seen them so far," he said.

In a report last week, the IAEA said that Iran had slowed production of enriched uranium, which can be used to make a nuclear bomb, and agreed to tighter monitoring of its enrichment plant.

The United States downplayed the report, saying that Iran was still not cooperating fully with the UN inspectors.

US hummers enter Pakistan, undercover American soldiers in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—Undercover armed Americans are swarming the Pakistani capital in the latest sign that the elected government has allowed Washington to dispatch what is believed to be a large number of American special operations agents and contractual security guards, including the infamous Blackwater private militia.

This comes at a time when whistleblowers within the government and the military are reporting the arrival of a large number of US Marines in Pakistan. Some reports put the figure at 1,000 US soldiers, much of whom are thought to be arriving as part of the massive expansion of the US Embassy and four consulates across the country. While the US embassy continues to deny this, new buildings are under construction to house security teams. The expanded US embassy is supposed to become the largest US embassy in the world.

According to the source, the shipment was not destined for Afghanistan. The picture was taken on Aug. 19, 2009 and being released here for the first time.

Arctic Sea was carrying illegal arms, says general

A general close to the investigation into the mysterious voyage of the Arctic Sea has told a Russian newspaper that he suspected the ship was carrying a secret cargo of illegal weapons, as many conspiracy theorists have suggested.

The newspaper, Komsomolskaya Pravda, interviewed what it described as a senior general in the Russian Navy who had been close to the investigation. The general said that he knew far more than he could say openly at this stage, but his testimony, if genuine, represents the first concrete information to come out of the investigation, which has been shrouded in mystery.

He said the theory that the ship might have been carrying drugs was excluded from the beginning, but that the investigation had focussed on a possible weapons shipment, in particular S-300 or X-55 missiles bound for Iran, and sold by a "weapons mafia" involving top Russian officials but operating outside of the law.

In the meantime, mainstream media in Britain have reported that he was framed, through false testimony and the intentional withholding of exculpatory information by the court. His appeal was likely to be granted, and attention would inevitably have focused on the question of who actually did carry out the bombing. The calculation appears to have been, that one might circumvent such a situation by releasing him on “humanitarian” grounds, in exchange for dropping the appeal. No later than two years ago, it must have become clear to anyone following the case, that al Megrahi would have to be released, because the head of a Swiss company Mebo, Edwin Bollier, admitted, after the statute of limitations for such a crime had expired, that key evidence used in the trial had actually been faked. Also, in June 2007 the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission, upon a three year investigation, reported that there may have been a miscarriage of justice.

Since U.S. taxpayers are underwriting private soldiers’ paychecks, where’s the savings? It is money from taxpayer’s pockets that has made these shadow armies great.

Iran has until late September to respond to the latest international proposal aimed at stopping the Islamic Republic from developing a nuclear weapon. Under the proposal, Iran would suspend its uranium enrichment program in exchange for a U.N. Security Council commitment to forgo a fourth round of economic and diplomatic sanctions.

But if [WHEN] diplomacy fails, the world should be prepared for an Israeli attack on Iran's suspected nuclear weapons facilities. As Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently acknowledged: "The window between a strike on Iran and their getting nuclear weapons is a pretty narrow window."

If Israel attempts such a high-risk and destabilizing strike against Iran, President Obama will probably learn of the operation from CNN rather than the CIA.[CUTE, CIA RUNS CNN]. History shows that although Washington seeks influence over Israel's military operations, Israel would rather explain later than ask for approval in advance of launching preventive or preemptive attacks. Those hoping that the Obama administration will be able to pressure Israel to stand down from attacking Iran as diplomatic efforts drag on are mistaken [YEAH WE KNOW WHO WEARS THE PANTS AROUND HERE THANKS BUDDY].

The current infighting among Iran's leaders also has led some to incorrectly believe that Tehran's nuclear efforts will stall. As Friday's International Atomic Energy Agency report on Iran's nuclear programs revealed, throughout the political crises of the last three months, Iran's production rate for centrifuges has remained steady, as has its ability to produce uranium hexafluoride to feed into the centrifuges.

So let's consider four past Israeli military operations relevant to a possible strike against Iran.

In October 1956, Israel, Britain and France launched an ill-fated assault against Egypt to seize control of the Suez Canal. The day before, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles grilled Abba Eban, Israel's ambassador to the U.S., about Israel's military buildup on the border with Egypt, but Eban kept quiet about his country's plans.

In June 1967, Israel initiated the Six-Day War without notice to Washington, despite President Johnson's insistence that Israel maintain the status quo and consult with the U.S. before taking action. Only days before the war began, Johnson notified Prime Minister Levi Eshkol in a personal message: "Israel just must not take preemptive military action and thereby make itself responsible for the initiation of hostilities."

On June 7, 1981, Israeli fighter-bombers destroyed the Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak shortly before it was to be fueled to develop the capacity to make nuclear weapons-grade plutonium. Again, Washington was not informed in advance. President Reagan "condemned" the attack and "thought that there were other options that might have been considered."

A few days later, Prime Minister Menachem Begin told CBS News: "This attack will be a precedent for every future government in Israel. ... Every future Israeli prime minister will act, in similar circumstances, in the same way."

Begin's prediction proved true on Sept. 6, 2007, when Israeli aircraft destroyed what was believed to be a North Korean-supplied plutonium reactor in Al Kibar, Syria. Four months earlier, Israeli intelligence officials had provided damning evidence to the Bush administration about the reactor, and the Pentagon drew up plans to attack it. Ironically, according to New York Times reporter David Sanger, President Bush ultimately decided the U.S. could not bomb another country for allegedly possessing weapons of mass destruction. An administration official noted that Israel's attack went forward "without a green light from us. None was asked for, none was given."

These episodes demonstrate that if Israel decides that Iranian nuclear weapons are an existential threat, it will be deaf to entreaties from U.S. officials to refrain from using military force. Soon after the operation, Washington will express concern to Tel Aviv publicly and privately. The long-standing U.S.-Israeli relationship will remain as strong as ever with continued close diplomatic, economic, intelligence and military cooperation.

Should Tehran prove unwilling to meet the September deadline and bargain away its growing and latent nuclear weapon capability, we can expect an Israeli attack that does not require U.S. permission, or even a warning.

Despite the publication of a critical report on Iran's nuclear program, senior Israeli diplomatic officials are accusing the International Atomic Energy Agency of "hiding critical information on Iran's nuclear progress," the Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

While Israeli officials would not give details about the information the IAEA was allegedly hiding, "we're talking about information that would be far more incriminating for Iran," the official said.

"Israel expects the international community to take substantive steps soon toward terminating Iran's military nuclear program," the Foreign Ministry's statement added, in a remark apparently addressed to the international gatherings.

Meanwhile, the Iranian government reacted positively to the report's publication.

The report confirmed "that Iran's nuclear activities are peaceful," Iran's envoy to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh told the Fars news agency on Saturday.

"It shows Iran has continued its cooperation with the agency ... but at the same time will not accept any political pressure to take measures beyond its legal commitments," he said, according to Reuters.

The IAEA acknowledged that Teheran had been producing nuclear fuel at a slower rate and had allowed UN inspectors broader access to its main nuclear complex in the southern city of Natanz.

Experts say swine flu warnings may be overblown

“WHO is certainly putting the fear of [God] in people with this type of release,” said William Muraskin, a professor of urban studies at Queens College in New York, who is a specialist in international health. “The description by the WHO is similar to lung infections that claimed so many young people during the 1918 pandemic.”

Yesterday marked the 23rd birthday of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli Staff Sergeant who has been detained by Palestinian forces for over two years during a cross-border operation, and the internet buzzed with calls for solidarity in bringing him home.

According to Ha’aretz, after a long disagreement over prisoner exchange between the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli regime, the two sides are close to reaching a deal.
In exchange for the Israeli soldier, Hamas has demanded the release of 1,400 Palestinian prisoners, including 450 who are serving long-term sentences – a request rejected by Tel Aviv, which views the Shalit’s freedom as a precondition for reopening all border-crossings into the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Those who are unaware of the magnitude of the prisoner situation in terms of the Palestinian side will swiftly assume that such a demand would classify itself as nonnegotiable and cause for simple revocation from the Jewish state,but unbeknownst to a majority of Westerners the situation in terms of Palestinian prisoners goes far past the 1,400 that Hamas is asking for.

As of August 9th,2009 there are currently over 11,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons: men,women and yes – children.For their part, the Palestinians hold one Israeli prisoner,Gilad Shalit.

The British amateur terror trackers: a case study in dubious politics

Investigations by Spinwatch reveal that a group of freelance terror trackers who promote stories about the threat from violent Islamists have been involved in exaggerating and even fabricating such stories, which they then comment on in the national press and on network television and radio. The group – which has now fallen apart – was centred on freelance spy Glen Jenvey and Conservative Party member Dominic Wightman, who uses the pseudonym ‘Whiteman’.

The barrage of stories from official sources and from terror ‘experts’ suggesting that Britain is under serious and extensive threat from Islamists and that Islam as a religion is particularly prone to extremism has been boosted by some stories that have little basis in fact. These have included:

• An alleged attempt to plant a story about terrorist grannies planning to blow themselves up in British supermarkets
• An attempt to suggest – quite falsely – that campaigners against the Israeli attack on Gaza were actually planning to target British Jews
• The creation of a fake allegedly Islamist website in a bid to entrap suspects.
• Spying on Tamil activists in the UK.
• A fraudulent fundraising effort in the 1980s which was claimed to be to aid the African National Congress

The group behind these stories – Vigil – is a convenient label for a number of people who are linked on the one hand to elements of the British far right and on the other to networks of neoconservative ideologues in the US and UK seeking to exploit the genuine threat faced by UK citizens – Muslim and non Muslim alike. In this case behind the anodyne label of ‘terror expert’ there is a story including alleged spying, deception, fraud, assault, and a falling out over money.

In a declaration filed in the Bloomberg Case (08-CV-9595, Southern District of New York), the banks demonstrate no shame in attempting to perpetuate the status quo with regard to the Federal Reserve and demand that the wool over the eyes of the general population remain firmly planted in perpetuity.

On Monday, Stars & Stripes broke the news that U.S. military media handlers in Afghanistan have been rating embedded reporters according to their sympathy towards U.S. war aims. Turns out this was an open secret among veterans of the Kabul beat. P.J. Tobia got his hands on his profile months ago, according to his piece in True/Slant.

“Rating the coverage that reporters give the military — “positive,” “neutral,” “negative” — seems a bit silly and slightly Orwellian, but if thousands of reporters were covering my organization, I would want a simple shorthand to identify them as well,” Tobia wrote. “I do think the reports are creepy though. These guys have read almost everything I’ve written in the last few years, even interviews I’ve given to local news blogs. Reading this report is like perusing the diary of your stalker.”

Tobia helpfully quotes portions of his profile:

Tobia continues to humanize U.S. soldiers by quoting mainly U.S. military personnel and detailing the soldiers’ backgrounds, homes and reaction to fighting in Afghanistan.

His most recent article is neutral-to-positive while his previous work has been neutral or neutral-to-negative. …

[Tobia's] articles on Afghanistan focused on multiple topics that included, narcotics use, detainee abuse, the ‘hearts and minds’ mission, the development of the ANSF [Afghan National Security Forces] as well as the overall cost of the US mission in Afghanistan. He produced two articles that were originally published in The Washington Post and Nashville Scene but were later picked up by New York’s left-leaning Village Voice and Florida’s New Times. …

Based on his previous embed and past reporting, it is unlikely that he will miss an opportunity to report on U.S. military missteps. However, if following previous trends, he will remain sympathetic to U.S. troops and may acknowledge a learning curve in Afghanistan.

Swine flu fear mongering a mass psy-op?

OKLAHOMA CITY – Here at Red Dirt Report headquarters, we have been closely monitoring this swine flu (H1N1) situation, called a Level 6 “pandemic” by the questionable World Health Organization.

As previously reported here at Red Dirt Report, IPS Research, located in downtown Oklahoma City, has started their clinical trials of the experimental swine flu vaccine as offered by drugmakers Novartis and Sanofi-Aventis.

Adults and children are being urged by IPS Research to take part in the trials. Of course, we noted that dangerous ingredients including squalene (an oil-based adjuvant) and thimerosal (mercury) will be in each dose. This, despite many reports over the years regarding the horrific side effects both ingredients can lead to.

A story linked at Red Dirt Report called “Vaccine may be more dangerous than swine flu,” featured at Newsmax.com in July and written by Dr. Russell Blaylock, notes that the mysterious virus is an “enigma for virologists.” Quoting a scientist as written in Nature magazine, “Where the hell it got all these genes from, we don’t know.” What does that mean? Well, virologists have discovered the H1N1, aka swine flu, has avian flu virus, 1918 H1N1 virus and two new H3N2 virus genes from Eurasia.

Sounds like somebody has been having a little too much fun in a biolab somewhere. And we don’t say that lightly. One of the companies that has been working with WHO to create a pandemic vaccine is Baxter Pharmaceuticals which earlier this year sent seasonal flu vaccine mixed with deadly avian flu virus to countries in Europe. There has never been any thorough explanation how this mistake happened and there are no reports that Baxter, with American offices in Illinois, was reprimanded or fined for this potentially deadly mistake. Fortunately, scientists in Czech Republic discovered this problem before it was sent out any further.

Israeli Organ Harvesting: The New "Blood Libel"?

Last week Sweden’s largest daily newspaper published an article containing shocking material: testimony and circumstantial evidence indicating that Israelis may have been harvesting internal organs from Palestinian prisoners without consent for many years.

Worse yet, some of the information reported in the article suggests that in some instances Palestinians may have been captured with this macabre purpose in mind.

In the article, “Our sons plundered for their organs,” veteran journalist Donald Bostrom writes that Palestinians “harbor strong suspicions against Israel for seizing young men and having them serve as the country’s organ reserve – a very serious accusation, with enough question marks to motivate the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to start an investigation about possible war crimes.”1/

An army of Israeli officials and apologists immediately went into high gear, calling both Bostrom and the newspaper’s editors “anti-Semitic.” The Israeli foreign minister was reportedly “aghast” and termed it “a demonizing piece of blood libel.” An Israeli official called it “hate porn.”

Commentary magazine wrote that the story was “merely the tip of the iceberg in terms of European funded and promoted anti-Israel hate.” Numerous people likened the article to the medieval “blood libel,” (widely refuted stories that Jews killed people to use their blood in religious rituals). Even some pro-Palestinian writers joined in the criticism, expressing skepticism.

The fact is, however, that substantiated evidence of public and private organ trafficking and theft, and allegations of worse, have been widely reported for many years. Given such context, the Swedish charges become far more plausible than might otherwise be the case and suggest that an investigation could well turn up significant information.

Kawther Salam: Night of Israeli horror in Jerusalem hospital

The roots and the horror of this crime date back to June 2, 1994, when the Israeli Special Forces and other IDF soldiers, the so called (border Police) stormed the surgery, maternity and pediatric wards of the Palestinian hospital Augusta Victoria (generally known as “al-Motala”) in Jerusalem while they were looking for the BODY of a Palestinian who they mistakenly thought had arrived at that hospital.

Back then, the Israeli military censorship in “Beit Agron”, the so-called Government Press “GPO”, currently headed by Danial Seaman, censored my report about the night of terror experienced by doctors, nurses, patients and guests during the IDF incursion to their rooms, putting their lives at big risk.

• Why did the military censorship ban my report from being published in Al-Quds newspaper in Jerusalem, where I worked as a journalist and investigator? Was it not true, or did they just not like what they read?
• Has the military censorship thought even for a while that I would keep my right to publish my report about the unwarranted IDF crime in the Augusta Victoria Hospital, even 15 years later, and that censoring is not the right way to deal with journalists?
• A copy of my report, which was censored back then, can be seen in the scan of the article, which is stamped in Hebrew by the military censor as “publication not allowed”.

After 42 years of living under the Israeli military laws, under the unjust laws of the British mandate which ended in 1948 but still used illegally by the Israeli occupation in the occupied West Bank until today, the Palestinian publications (newspapers, magazines, publishing houses and advertising, … etc.) must present all material to Israeli military censorship 24 hours before publishing. The IDF censor is the only one who approves or disapproves the publication of an article.

Most of us know the term “SWAT” as a reference to an inter-agency team of enforcement personnel who engage in operations to put drug lords and other illegal groups out of business using sophisticated weaponry and state-of-the-art intelligence-gathering methods. A client of mine uses "swat" operation when referring to a complex series of seemingly unrelated actions by a series of governmental agencies, including agencies of judicial, executive and legislative branches, often with the participation and assistance of private individual or corporate informants, to profit from the destruction, silencing, asset seizure or blackmail of an individual or company who is out of favor with or has offended some individual or group in power. The purpose of the swat operation is to satisfy the goals of one or more private special interest groups or governmental covert operations, or both. Ghandi’s perceptive observation about the traits most spiritually harmful to humanity, in a few words, goes a great distance in explaining what the point of the swat operation is. I have spent the last seven years of my practice witnessing, and attempting to deal with, the legal aspects of swat operations apparently conducted at both federal and state levels, in all branches of government, with the assistance of government contractors and unwitting participants alike.

The most challenging aspect of this type of practice is convincing those who are targets [3] or witnesses of the swat operation that it does, in fact, exist. After all, covert operations are conducted under cover. The very nature of a successful covert operation is to achieve its goals without the general public’s being aware that a single force is responsible for what appears to be a series of unrelated events. In my experience, the bigger the lie, the easier it is to pull off.

Let us think of the covert or swat operation as having two primary “teams”:

(1) the covert, willful perpetrators, and those who deliberately or unwittingly assist them (other “participants”), referred to as the “swat team,” and

(2) the “target team,” comprised of the target and the target’s friends, family members, business colleagues and legal and other contractors hired to deal with the swat operation.

As will become clear, it is not necessary to the success of a covert operation that each participant on the swat team has the same or even similar interests to those of other participants, that participants belong to the same political party or recognized social class, or even that the participants know each other. It is also true that individuals not infrequently operate on both teams. Likewise, oftentimes, members of the target’s team search in vain for reasons to believe that there is no swat, but rather a series of unfortunate events brought on by the failure of the target to be perfect. As one of my clients is fond of saying, “there’s always a parking ticket.” This form of denial arises from a false understanding of how the larger economic and social systems operate and often is strong enough to survive despite even overwhelming evidence to contradict the party line put forth by members of the swat team.

Sweden, August 27, 2009 (Pal-Telegraph) - New York lawyer sues Swedish newspaper: A lawyer in New York has sued the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet following its article accusing Israeli soldiers of smuggling dead Palestinians' organs.

The Israeli lawyer Guy Ophir, based in New York, has submitted a civil action to the New York State Supreme Court, the TT news wire wrote.

He's claiming $7.5 million in damages against Aftonbladet because of the harm the tabloid has caused Jews and Israelis, himself included, he wrote in his writ.

THE Federal Government’s plan to immunise the population against swine flu is in chaos because insurers may not cover doctors who administer the jab.

Inadequate testing and the possibility of spreading other infections means there is too high a risk patients will sue, the insurers say.

Despite weeks of crisis talks, the Government has refused to underwrite doctors’ liability for the vaccinations and medical groups say the program – due to start as early as mid-September – cannot proceed unless doctors are insured.

The president of the Australian Medical Association, Andrew Pesce, said: ”The indemnity issue needs to be sorted out or else the vaccination program won’t go ahead … In the environment we’re in, someone has to be held accountable for rare vaccine reactions that may occur …

”If the Government decides there is a priority need to roll out the vaccine, then it has a duty to indemnify the doctors who provide it.”

This means that if the entire U.S. population is vaccinated (a stated goal of the CDC), we are to assume as a fact that 30,000 Americans will suffer debilitating or lethal side effects. Apparently the CDC considers this an acceptable level of collateral damage.

As unthinkable as this is (destroying or ending the lives of as many as 30,000 Americans), that is only part of the story.

The novel H1N1 vaccine being developed must adhere to guidelines set forth by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA has announced that a vaccine will be accepted if it creates antibodies in 4 out of 10 recipients (40%), with at least 70 percent of those 4 achieving an antibody level believed to provide benefit. This means that an acceptable vaccine candidate would provide “protection” for 28% of vaccine recipients (70% of the 40%), or less than 3 in 10 recipients. The requirement drops to 18% efficacy for those over 65 years of age (60% of 30%).

So here are the facts, as documented by the CDC and the FDA:

As many as 30,000 Americans will be harmed by the novel H1N1 vaccine.

The vaccine may be ineffective in more than 7 out of 10 recipients.

VA medical center will fire employees unless they take flu shot

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston Area Medical Center employees must get seasonal flu shots this year or risk losing their jobs.

All CAMC Health System workers must get vaccinated by Dec. 15 or their employment will be terminated, CAMC said in its August newsletter Vital Signs.

"The strongest recommendation that's out there is to take the vaccine every year," CAMC Director of Epidemiology Terrie Lee said Tuesday. "Our board of trustees and administrators had been discussing this for a couple years. We decided this year to make it a mandatory process for all of our employees."

Employees may submit a request for accommodation due to health reasons, such as allergies to a component of the flu vaccine. They have until Sept. 15 to do so, and if requests are confirmed, those employees would have to wear a mask over their nose and mouth while at work during flu season, the newsletter said.

IOF kidnapps 13 Palestinians from West Bank

Israeli troops kidnapped 13 Palestinian civilians on Thursday during pre dawn invasions targeting a number of West Bank communities. Local Palestinian sources said that the attacks were reported in Qalqilia and Salfet, northern West Bank, Ramallah, in central West Bank, Bethlehem and Hebron in the south in addition to Jericho City.

The Israeli military radio announced that the all of the 13 men were taken to detention camps for questioning and they were on what the army calls its "wanted list."

In June the Israeli military said it would stop invading the cities of Ramallah and Qalqilia, as well as Bethlehem and Jericho. However, since then the army has never stopped its attacks targeting those cities.

Goldman subpoenaed on huddles

William Galvin, Massachusetts’s chief financial regulator, has subpoenaed Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs Group Inc., demanding information on the firm’s weekly trading huddles between its research analysts and traders.

Mr. Galvin, the Massachusetts secretary of the commonwealth, said he is concerned that the huddles, in which Goldman’s research staff give verbal short-term stock tips to the firm’s traders and then its clients, disadvantage some Goldman customers.

“We have concerns about the research analysts and the efforts under way to use them to secure additional business,” Mr. Galvin said on Wednesday.

Federal authorities plan to initiate a nationwide campaign in the coming weeks to persuade Americans to get the swine flu vaccine and to erase any public skepticism about the flu's danger and the safety of immunizations.

Even as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has manufacturers working overtime to produce a vaccine for the swine flu by mid-October, government officials are concerned that demand for immunization will not be high. In particular, parents participating in focus groups this summer expressed concern that ramping up vaccine production would make it less safe than the seasonal flu vaccine.

Half of Hong Kong health workers would likely refuse vaccine

About half of Hong Kong's health workers would refuse the swine flu vaccine, new research says, a trend that experts say would likely apply worldwide. In a study that polled 2,255 Hong Kong health workers this year, researchers found even during the height of global swine flu panic in May, less than half were willing to get vaccinated.

Most said they would pass on the swine flu shot, which is not yet available, because they were afraid of side effects and doubted how safe and effective it would be.

Doctors and nurses are on the swine flu front lines — and if they become infected, they may not only spread the disease to patients, but their absence from work could cripple health systems.

(CBS/ AP) U.S. government health officials are urging Americans not to panic over estimates that up to 90,000 people might die in the United States from swine flu this year.

"Everything we've seen in the U.S. and everything we've seen around the world suggests we won't see that kind of number if the virus doesn't change," Dr. Thomas Frieden, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a C-SPAN interview taped Wednesday.

While the swine flu seems quite easy to catch, it so far has not been more deadly than the flu strains seen every year during the cold months: many people have only mild illness. Also, close genetic tracking of the new virus as it circled the globe during the past five months so far has shown no sign that it is mutating to become more virulent.

Still, the CDC has been preparing for a worst-case flu season as a precaution - in July working from an estimate slightly more grim than one that made headlines this week - to make sure that if the virus should suddenly worsen or vaccination plans should fall through, health authorities would know how to react.

On Monday the White House released a report from a group of presidential advisers that included a scenario where anywhere from 30 per cent to half the 300 million Americans could catch what doctors call the "2009 H1N1" flu; the extrapolation said death possibilities ranged from 30,000 to 90,000. In a regular flu season, up to 20 per cent of the population is infected and 36,000 die.

"We don't think that's the most likely scenario," CDC flu specialist Dr. Anne Schuchat said of the presidential advisers' high-end tally.

What's really expected this year? CDC will not speculate, finding a numbers game pointless as it tries to balance getting a largely complacent public to listen to its flu instructions without exaggerating the threat.

Along with how the virus itself continues to act, the ultimate toll depends on such things as vaccinations beginning as planned - currently set for mid-October - and whether the people who need them most get them.

CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton reports that the Obama administration is pushing health officials to see if the immunization program can be accelerated.

Under the current plans, people who get their first shots in mid-October wouldn't actually be fully immunized until around Thanksgiving, after booster shots, reports Ashton. She calls the government's goal of immunizing some 195 million Americans by the end of the year, considering manufacturers' capacity to produce the drugs, "definitely ambitious".

CDC also is working to help hospitals keep the not-so-sick from crowding emergency rooms and to properly target anti-flu drugs to the most vulnerable.

What is likely: A busy flu season that starts earlier than usual, Schuchat told The Associated Press. This new H1N1 strain never went away during the summer, infecting children at camps during midyear schools in particular. Already clusters of illnesses are being reported at some schools and colleges around the country.

To supposedly minimize this “safety” issue, the CDC is now recommending a DUPLEX vaccination, of all things. A “duplex” vaccination basically involves a two-shot series. The first shot consists of a VERY WEAK, HIGHLY ATTENUTATED dose of the live virus.

This is intended to create an initial immune response patterning the specific virus injected. Within a couple of weeks of the 1st shot, a BOOSTER SHOT is given. The booster shot has only lightly attenuated, or even FULL STRENGTH VIRUSES in the injection. This 2nd shot is then intended to create a full-strength immune system response in the human subject.

This is, at the very least, BAD SCIENCE and borders on insanity for self-evident and fairly obvious reasons. By their own admissions, the NIH scientists in their various writings have declared that the level of potency of these REVERSE ENGINEERED VIRUSES show abnormal, almost RANDOM tendencies in their attenuated states. Nobody really knows what will happen over time as the inevitable “genetic drifts” occur. It is a literal crap shoot. It is highly probable that even the HIGHLY ATTENUATED FRANKEN-VIRUSES can swiftly regain their FULL POTENCY even in the presence of ether and formaldehyde. (See Addendum Below) Secondly, the full-strength BOOSTER shot viruses could just as easily “DRIFT” into something much more deadly than the “original’ recombinant virus that it is targeting.

I submit that the scientists responsible for this “pandemic” are not stupid. They have to know these facts as well as I do.

50% UK doctors won't take the vaccine

Up to half of family doctors do not want to be vaccinated against swine flu.

GPs will be first in the line for the jabs when they become available but many will decline, even though they will be offering the vaccine to their patients.

More than two thirds of those who will turn the jab down believe it has not been tested enough. Most also believe the flu has turned out to be so mild in the vast majority of cases that the vaccine is not needed.

Last night Government experts criticised GPs who decide not to have the jab, saying they will put vulnerable patients needlessly at risk.

State Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein ordered police to launch an investigation against Prof. Yehuda Hiss, the nation's senior pathologist and director of the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.

Hiss is accused of a long list of charges from inappropriate behavior as a medical professional to criminal acts such as the illegal sale of and dealings in organs and body parts, removing organs from deceased persons without consent, and misrepresenting organs in returned bodies.

Allegations made against Hiss in some cases include his taking organs without consent, placing the cardboard center of toilet paper rolls and metallic rods in their place to fill the voids in the body and hide the theft of the organs.

A court-ordered search of the institute revealed large supplies of stored organs taken illegally from bodies. Over the past years, heads of the institute appear to have given thousands of organs for research without permission, while maintaining a "storehouse" of organs at Abu Kabir.

Organs belonging to soldiers killed in various circumstances were found in the institute during a surprise search this week. After consulting with Chief Chaplain Brig. Gen. Rabbi Yisrael Weiss, it was decided that in concert with the bereaved families, graves would be opened and the organs buried along with the remains of each soldier involved.

And I realized during that ordeal before he died, that the real crime in the country, and listening to Nancy talk about the whole system in the world, is that we do not pay for organs. And there is not a system set up to compensate people who are willing and able to donate organs for the people that are on these waiting lists.

CONAN: And what happened with your dad?

VINCENT: Well, the system is so bad, it's fragmented. I think Nancy touched on that. Depending where you are in the world, (unintelligible) and depending on how sick you are, you can wait an inordinate amount of time until you die, or you can sell everything, and pick up, and move to another state and hopefully get on another list, which is what they had to do in my case, my father's case. And we had looked into trying to purchase these things illegally, but you know, there's not really, like, a Web site you can go to and order these things online.

But it was so frustrating and horrible that there was this dichotomy about people who think that the moral stand to have these organs for sale, and while they're on their high horse saying that, people are dying.

CONAN: And as I understand it…

VINCENT: It doesn't make any sense.

Why didn't someone in your family offer to give half a liver rather than buy it from a demolished person? VINCENT: There was an information disconnect, too, in terms of the family, and you know, from family members who are dealing with this, there's so much stress, of course…

Dr. SCHEPER-HUGHES: Unfortunately, I should tell you there are ways that are very problematic, and I think you would agree. There was, until I closed it down, a Web site in China that would sell livers and - even from living people, but mostly from executed prisoners. And selling a half of your liver is not something that any righteous transplant surgeon would take part in, in taking a half of a liver. That's something that a very dear, close loved one who's totally screened and taken care of and protected afterwards. You don't just take a stranger and take a half a liver and send them back to a slum somewhere in the world.

FED must release reports on emergency bank loans

Aug. 25 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve must make records about emergency lending to financial institutions public within five days because it failed to convince a judge the documents should be exempt from the Freedom of Information Act.

Manhattan Chief U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska rejected the central bank’s argument that the records aren’t covered by the law because their disclosure would harm borrowers’ competitive positions. The collateral lists “are central to understanding and assessing the government’s response to the most cataclysmic financial crisis in America since the Great Depression,” according to the lawsuit that led to yesterday’s ruling.
