1. NATO using warlords - they are confirmed on the payroll your tax dollars at work

By Gareth Porter

WASHINGTON - The revelation by the New York Times on Wednesday that Ahmed Wali Karzai, the brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, has long been on the payroll of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), is only the tip of a much bigger iceberg of heavy dependence by US and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) counter-insurgency forces on Afghan warlords for security, according to a recently published report and investigations by Australian and Canadian journalists.

United States and other NATO military contingents operating in the provinces of Afghanistan's predominantly Pashtun south and east have been hiring private militias controlled by Afghan warlords, according to these sources, to provide security for their forward operating bases, other bases and to guard convoys.

General Stanley McChrystal, the US's chief in Afghanistan, has acknowledged that US and NATO ties with warlords have been a cause of popular Afghan alienation from foreign military forces. But the policy is not likely to be reversed anytime soon, because US and NATO officials still have no alternative to the security services the warlords provide.

A report published by the Center on International Cooperation at New York University (NYU) in September notes that US and NATO contingents have frequently hired security providers that are covertly owned by warlords who have "ready-made" private militias which compete with state institutions for power.

Khan, now police chief in Uruzgan province, evidently got his private army from his uncle, Jan Mohammad Khan, a commander who helped defeat the Taliban in Kandahar in 2001 and was then rewarded by President Karzai by being named governor of Uruzgan in 2002.

2. hillary clinton meets with Pakistani tribal leaders - on the payroll hmm?

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The visiting United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with members of the National Assembly, the lower house of the Pakistani Parliament, from Federal Administered Tribal Area (FATA) on Friday. During the meeting, the tribal leaders made it clear that use of power is not the solution of problems and drone attacks creating hatred in FATA, the private TV channel GEO News reported.

The delegation assured the U.S. secretary of state that tribal men are not terrorists. [specially if they're on the payroll - ed.]

Clinton said the U.S. will continue its cooperation with Pakistan in the war against terror. She said Pakistan-U.S. ties are not restricted to war and security issues as the U.S. wants long term and durable relationship with Pakistan.

The U.S drones regularly hit hideouts of the militants in the Pakistani tribal region, which Washington considers as the center of Taliban and al-Qaeda remnants. Pakistan opposes the U.S. strikes inside the country's tribal regions and seeks the drone technology. But the U.S. does not accept Islamabad's request.

3. US military expecting more violence in Iraq -- more people on the payroll creating mayhem and killing muslims???

By Prashant Rao - BAGHDAD

US forces expect insurgents to plan more spectacular attacks like massive bombings in Baghdad last week in the run-up to January polls and are braced for an upswing in violence, warned a senior general.

Major General John D. Johnson added that while he expected the security situation to stabilise by the middle of next year, politically motivated violence aimed at influencing the shape of the next government was a concern.

"I think we can't rule out some of these groups' desires to conduct a large attack because they're able to garner a lot of media attention and it's an attempt on their part to be relevant ... and an attempt to intimidate the people," said Johnson, the deputy commander of US operations in Iraq.

Asked whether he expected insurgents to attempt more bombings like the twin suicide attacks that killed 153 people in central Baghdad last Sunday, he said: "I can't speak for what it is that they want to try to do, these are the kinds of things that we expect them to attempt to do."

4. Lebanon group claims rocket fire - on the payroll too??

DUBAI - A group claims it fired the Katyusha rocket attack from Lebanon that hit northern Israel earlier this week, a US-based group that monitors websites said on Thursday.

The Brigades of Abdullah Azzam, Battalions of Ziad Jarrah, said it was responsible for Tuesday's attack, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Al-Fajr Media Centre, SITE Intelligence Group said. The group said it had prepared five rockets but only fired one, adding that the attack was to protest a Sunday raid by Israeli police on occupied Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

"The occupying Jews have dared to repeatedly raid the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Mosque ... In response to this aggression, a battalion among the Battalions of Ziad Jarrah" fired the Katyusha, it said. Israeli occupation forces twice entered Al-Aqsa mosque compound on Sunday and clashed with Palestinian youths.

Israel retaliated to the attack with an artillery barrage. No casualties were reported in either case. Abdullah Azzam is the name of Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden's mentor. He was killed in a 1989 bomb blast.

Lebanese Ziad Jarrah is the name of one of the alleged plotters of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. He is believed to have been one of the hijackers of United Airlines Flight 93.

"that's Israel" means "rules don't apply"

By Lucile Malandain - WASHINGTON

A leading US space scientist credited with helping discover water on the moon pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he tried to sell US defense secrets to Israel for two million dollars.

Judge Deborah Robinson rejected a bail request from Stewart David Nozette, who was arrested October 19 in an FBI sting operation, saying he was considered a flight risk and should remain in jail pending trial.

Nozette, 52, is charged with two counts of attempted espionage for allegedly trying to sell secrets to an FBI agent posing as an Israeli intelligence officer -- crimes which could carry the death penalty.

"The weight of evidence against the defendant is substantial," federal prosecutor Heather Schmidt told the court.

Court documents from the prosecution accused Nozette, who for years had a high-level US government security clearance, of seeking "roughly two million dollars as compensation for his espionage."

He "delivered and communicated this classified information to an individual he believed was an Israeli intelligence officer in exchange for an alias, a foreign passport, and cash payments," they said.

The government provided the court with recorded excerpts of a conversation with the FBI agent from October 19 in which a laughing Nozette mulled various plans to flee the United States should he be suspected of spying for Israel.

In their final discussion that day, the undercover FBI agent allegedly handed Nozette 10,000 dollars in 100 dollar bills, which he tried to hide inside a hotel bathroom toilet tank when federal agents arrested him.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation also searched Nozette's safe deposit box at a bank in San Diego, California where they discovered 55 gold 'Krugerrand' coins worth a total of 50,000 dollars and 30,000 dollars in savings bonds, the court documents said.

"He asked for money, passport, a new identity. He had an entire plan on how he was going to leave the US" for Israel after getting paid, Schmidt said.

His defense team unsuccessfully dismissed the argument, stressing that Israel refused asylum even for Jonathan Pollard, the American convicted of spying for Israel in the 1980s.

Defense lawyer John Kiyonaga also appealed to an unmoved Judge Robinson that his client had committed only an "attempt" of espionage involving a close US ally. "That's Israel. That's not China, not North Korea, not even Russia," Kiyonaga said.

1. brainwashing americans on 9/11

Who is Jerome M. Hauer?

Jerome Hauer is among the small group of key individuals who are suspected of playing crucial roles is setting the stage for Israeli false-flag terror attacks of 9-11.

Yesterday, a reader sent me a document that contained a link to a very interesting 9-minute video clip called "The 9/11 Solution."

This short video, which I recommend, is about how the "9-11 cover story was sold to the public." It shows how – in the first hour after the attacks – the controlled media conspired, or was used, to promote the fairy tale that became the official story about why the World Trade Center towers collapsed, i.e. structural failure caused by fire.

people are suggestible

1. hundreds of schools closed as H1N1 flu cases multiply in US - here's the trick: suggest that sick people stay home. thus the sick people stay home. then express fear that so many people are sick and stayed home. then close the schools. then suggest that this ends when they get their vaccine.

BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Across the United States more and more schools have closed their gates due to the rapid widespread of A/H1N1 influenza outbreak nationwide. Sick students are suggested to stay at home, while city emergency rooms are also largely filled with students who are severely ill, according to news reports on Thursday. According to U.S. Education Department, at least 351 schools were closed in last week -- affecting more than 126,000 students in 19 states. So far, about 600 schools were closed in this school year altogether.

"This is scary," said Kathryn Marchuk, a nurse whose son attends St. Charles East High School outside Chicago, which closed for three days last week after about 800 of its 2,200 students called in absent. "So many people are sick. It's just everywhere." Many school officials said they were afraid the virus would spread faster if they stayed open. They feel shutting down is the only feasible option.

Despite the exceptional spreading speed of the H1N1 flu pandemic in the flu season, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Margaret Chan said a day before in a conference in Havana that the A/H1N1 pandemic would reach its natural end when enough people are immunized. 2. laDUH! Australian scientists find direct link between diet and immune system - here's the trick: take something totally obvious and common sense, call it a "breakthrough" to explain and coverup some really bad shit you've doing to people by poisoning them. convince people they're sick because they don't eat well enough. it's their own fault! autoimmune disease has *nothing* to do with the poisons they inject into our bodies with their vaccines no sirree bob.

CANBERRA, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Australian scientists have found a "direct link" between what we eat and how well our immune system operates, a breakthrough that could explain rising rates of autoimmune disease across the western world. Professor Charles Mackay, working at Sydney's Garvan Institute of Medical Research, identified how fibre in the diet plays a major role in ensuring a person's immune cells function properly, the Australian Associated Press reports Thursday.

"This does provide a direct link for the way immune cells work with the sort of things we eat."This broken-down fibre was found to "profoundly affect immune cell function", Prof. Mackay said, and without it the immune cells appeared more likely to go awry. Autoimmune disease refers to disorders in which a person's immune system mistakenly attacks part of the body, causing inflammation. "When (immune cells) go bad they cause inflammatory diseases, so asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease." Prof. Mackay said.

A lack of dietary fibre could also be behind the rise in type 1diabetes, he said.

The research suggests that having a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds would reduce a person's risk of autoimmune disease. It also helped to explain why food supplements that affect the balance of gut bacteria were known to reduce the symptoms of some inflammatory conditions. Prof. Mackay said dietary fibre, or roughage, was otherwise known to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and certain cancers plus it ensures you will be regular.

1. Israel shows *restraint* after latest rocket from Southern Lebanon

JERUSALEM, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Israel responded with limited fire towards the source of a rocket launched from southern Lebanon on Tuesday night. It was the ninth reported attack on Israel from Lebanese territory since the end of fighting between Israel and the south-Lebanon-based Hezbollah in 2006.

Four additional Katyusha rockets were found on Wednesday close to Tuesday's launch site. The discovery was made by a joint tour of officers from the Lebanese army and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, according to Lebanese and Israeli media reports.

Analysts are now wondering for how long Israel will show restraint in the face of these attacks for which no one claims responsibility.

...There are three directions in which Israel should look when trying to ascertain the source of the Katyusha strikes, according to Azani: Hezbollah, Palestinian organizations and the Lebanese arm of global Jihad. All three have reasons to gain from inciting Israel, he claimed.

2. Israel files complaint against Lebanon for suspicious rocket

Once again, in the world of "fairness" and "justice," the Israeli enemy seeks to assume the role of the "victim," turning the real "victims" into "tyrants"…

Thus, Israel has the right to violate the international resolution 1701 day and night and violate the Lebanese sovereignty in a daily basis… Israel has the right to plant spies and espionage networks all over Lebanon… Israel has the right to declare publicly, and even to inform the United Nations, that it will continue its spying networks in Lebanon… Israel has the right to "provoke" and to "threaten" a whole nation…

All these "rights" are granted to Israel… Yet, it has also the right to become the "victim" and file "complaints" against others with the "funny" accusation of violation the international resolution Israel itself seems to be proud of violating day and night…

Thus, when a rocket falls down at the northern border with Southern Lebanon, Israel is the "victim"… The incident comes a few hours after a "provocative" visit made to the region by the Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak who didn't hesitate to "threaten" Lebanon claiming readiness for any new "confrontation"… It also comes a few hours after the Israeli media revealed that the Israeli authorities told the United Nations that Israel will continue its spying activities in South Lebanon… Yet, Israel gives itself the right to file a complaint against Lebanon over the rocket attack, just like if it was the "provoked victim"!

3. Clinton due in Israel. US leaning toward 'indirect' talks

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will arrive in the occupied Palestinian territories on Saturday night for her first official visit since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government was sworn in. Clinton's visit underscores the goal of reaching a compromise that could see the resumption of “peace talks” between Israel and the Palestinians.

In light of the ever-wide gaps between the Israeli and Palestinian sides, voices are growing within the Obama administration to shift strategy and suffice with indirect - rather than direct - negotiations. The secretary of state is now taking a more active role in the diplomatic process in the Middle East, which has thus far been overseen by special envoy George Mitchell.

Mitchell is due to arrive in “Israel” on Thursday for preparatory discussions prior to Clinton's trip. Clinton is expected to meet Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and President Shimon Peres on Sunday. Before her arrival in “Israel”, Clinton will take part in a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Morocco.

Hysteria over J Street in the jpost:

Most American-Israelis I have spoken to recognize J Street for what it really is - a radical, far left organization funded and supported by radical forces. A true wolf in sheep's clothing. Indeed, J Street's executive director, Jeremy Ben-Ami, just confirmed that truth by declaring at the J Street conference, "[w]e are here to redefine and expand the very concept of being pro-Israel." Israel's greatest enemies could not have articulated it any better.

J Street calls itself a "Washington-based Israel lobby group." However, it has not disclosed its client. Is it the State of Israel, which to date has - correctly - not identified itself with J Street? Hardly. Is it the Americans living in Israel? Ridiculous. Is it the knowledgeable American Jews who are vitally interested in the security and growth of Israel? Certainly not.

terrorist tools

1. Iranian Guard tracking terror cells outside Iran - oh hey that's us

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the force is able to gather intelligence on terrorist groups operating from outside the country. "We have the means to gather intelligence on any terrorist group terrorizing Iranian citizens from outside Iran," Revolutionary Guards chief General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Tuesday.

Jafari, however, added that this has been made possible through 'the assistance of Shias outside the country who have the Islamic republic's interests at heart'. On October 18, at least 41 people including top commanders of IRGC were killed in an explosion during a unity conference between Sunni and Shia tribal leaders in the borderline city of Pishin. The Pakistan-based Jundullah terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast.

The Iranian commander took a swipe at Pakistani officials who 'have chosen silence in the face of plausible evidence confirming that Rigi has been assisted by the country's intelligence'. Jafari further repeated Iran's requests from the government in Islamabad to extradite those responsible for terrorizing Iranian nations.

The commander of IRGC Ground Forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, on Monday indicated that the military is preparing short-term and long-term plans to confront those behind a recent terror attack in Iran. Pakpour said the IRGC plans to pass intelligence to the authorities in neighboring countries to help them capture terrorists fleeing Iranian territory.

However, the IRGC commander added, "Due to the current security situation, the plans cannot be made public." "The IRGC has tracked them down" but the onus is on neighboring states to deal with the terrorists, he said.

Jundullah, which operates in Iran's Sistan-Baluchistan and Pakistan's Baluchistan provinces, has carried out a number of attacks against high profile Iranian targets, especially the government and security officials. An ABC News report in 2007 reported that the Jundullah terrorist group 'has been secretly encouraged and advised by American officials' to destabilize the government in Iran.

In another report in July, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh revealed that US Congressional leaders secretly agreed to George W. Bush's $400-million funding request last year for a major escalation of covert operations against Iran. It is through such covert funding that the US arms and funds terrorist groups such as the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) and Jundullah.

Other US intelligence agencies, such as the CIA, have their own secret and separate budgets to fund destabilizing operations against Iran and other nations that do not submit to America's will. The group's ringleader, Abdolmalek Rigi, describes his terrorist cell as a 'nationalist movement' and denies any links to Washington. However, many Sunni Baluchis were among those killed in the recent terrorist attack by Rigi's followers.

Meanwhile, tribal leaders in the city of Sarbaz in Sistan-Baluchistan province staged demonstrations in condemnation of the deadly blasts in the city. The protestors shouted slogans against the United States and the terrorist cell of Abdolmalek Rigi.

3. FBI kills radical Islamic leader in Detroit

BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Wednesday fatally shot a man named Luqman Ameen Abdullah, who allegedly was a leader of a violent Sunni Muslim separatist group, during a raid in Detroit.

The Federal agents were trying to arrest 11 men including Abdullah on charges of operating an organized crime ring in the Detroit area, according to media reports.

The 53-year-old man refused to surrender and began firing at them from a warehouse, according to a statement by the FBI and the United States attorney's office in Detroit. Abdullah was killed during the exchange of gunfire and six followers of his were taken into custody, an FBI spokeswoman said.

Abdullah, the imam of a mosque called Masjid al-Haqq, led a faction of a group called the Ummah, meaning the Brotherhood, which advocates the establishment of a separate, sovereign Islamic state within the United States governed by Islamic laws, according to the authorities.

A 45-page FBI criminal complaint described Abudullah as a "highly placed leader of a nationwide radical fundamentalist Sunni group consisting primarily of African Americans, some of whom converted to Islam while they were servicing sentences in various prisons."

1. Afghan war ready for expansion??

The worsening Afghan war has brought some good news for Uzbekistan. On Tuesday, the European Union announced it was lifting a four-year old arms embargo against Uzbekistan. The EU imposed wide-ranging sanctions in 2005 after Uzbek troops fired on civilians during an uprising in the city of Andizhan in Ferghana Valley, and Tashkent rejected calls by Western countries for an international inquiry into those killings.

Tuesday's decision completes an incremental process stretched over the past year or so on the EU's part to kiss and make up with Tashkent. The EU officials justified their decision with Tashkent's recently release of some political prisoners and abolishment of the death penalty. Amnesty International has promptly contradicted the claim with facts and figures.

Aside from the veracity of the EU claim, the reality is that Europe not only blinked first, it also bent its knees while doing so. Brussels kept a straight face, though, assuring the world audience that it would "closely and continuously observe the human-rights situation in Uzbekistan … [and] assess progress made by the Uzbek authorities."

...The EU decision comes at a time when alarm bells are beginning to ring in the Central Asian capitals regarding the spillover of the Afghan war to the region, which seems all but certain. The Taliban are strengthening their presence in northern Afghanistan and it is a matter of time before they threaten the Central Asian countries with retaliatory action for the latter's association with the US in Afghanistan.

WASHINGTON - United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Pakistan to meet with government officials, civic leaders, businesspeople, and even leaders of the political opposition.

For security reasons, the State Department isn't giving details of Clinton's visit - not even a timetable, let alone the topics she's expected to discuss with Pakistan's civilian and military leaders.

The security concerns proved correct, as Clinton's arrival in the country coincided with a car bomb that tore through a market in the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar early on October 28. At least 105 people were killed and more than 200 wounded.

Clinton was three hours' drive away in the capital, Islamabad, when the blast took place. In remarks carried live on Pakistani news channels, she said, "I want you to know that this fight is not Pakistan's alone. This is our struggle as well."

3. African impasse: terrorists or pirates, either way

MOSCOW. (RIA Novosti military commentator Ilya Kramnik) - Pirates near the Somali coast and several other African countries are possibly one of the key news items these days.

However, piracy is only the tip of the African iceberg: The developments in Africa, which affect all states in the region, including Somalia, are fraught with a far more serious threat than piracy.

The United States has recently expressed concern over this threat once again. During his visit to Algeria, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey D. Feltman said that Washington is concerned over the problem of terrorism in the Sahel countries (one of the poorest regions in the world, the Sahel Belt includes Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, and Eritrea).

Feltman noted that the U.S. is not going to substitute for African governments in their efforts to counter terrorism in the region, although it can provide them assistance.

Terrorist activity in the region started to surge after Al-Qaeda "branches" popped up in Africa. In January 2007, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) announced its existence, launching terrorist attacks against African countries' government agencies and armed forces, including the Algerian army, as well as against representatives of other countries, including Russia.

...It is unclear how the situation will develop, but it appears that in the media, the pirates near the African coast can be replaced by local terrorists only. [natch]

Iran's envoy to the UN atomic watchdog confirmed he had delivered Tehran's response on Thursday to a nuclear fuel deal drafted by the watchdog, ISNA news agency said. Ali Asghar Soltanieh told ISNA he had "given the response" to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. Earlier state-owned Arabic language Al-Alam television channel reported Tehran had handed over its response to IAEA.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that "conditions are ready" for a nuclear deal with world powers following a change in Western policy from "confrontation to cooperation." Ahmadinejad welcomed the prospect of an agreement on uranium enrichment.

..."Now the International Atomic Energy Agency is returning to its actual position which is to help independent nations and to create healthy relations with other nations," he said, referring to the UN watchdog which drew up the proposed deal between Iran and the major powers. Ahmadinejad said the West had previously adopted a policy of "confrontation and threats, but today it has changed its attitude and we welcome it. "We accept any hand extended to us in trust and honesty, without any plot or lie. But if that proves not to be the case, our response will be the same as we gave to (US president George W) Bush and his cronies," he said to cheers from the crowd.

2. oh hey i guess we won't need these then: key US panel approves new Iran sanctions

WASHINGTON - Iran's main gasoline suppliers, including British, French, Swiss and Indian firms, may face tough US sanctions under a bill that sailed through a key House of Representatives panel Wednesday.

By a voice vote, the House Foreign Affairs Committee approved legislation aimed at tightening the economic vise on Iran over its nuclear program.

The measure would empower US President Barack Obama to effectively block firms that supply Iran with refined petroleum products, or the ability to import or produce them at home, from doing business in the United States.

Democratic Representative Howard Berman, the committee's chairman, said the "urgency" of freezing Tehran's nuclear drive outweighed the "distasteful prospect" of inflicting considerable economic pain on the Iranian people. [sure it does fucker]

excerpt:

This was not a re-election rally for Mr Obama – not yet, please – but for Jon Corzine, the former boss of Goldman Sachs and now governor of New Jersey. He had invited the president to speak because, when Jersey voters go to the polls next Tuesday – New Jersey and Virginia are the only states where governorships are in play this year – it is not at all clear that they won't ditch him in favour of his Republican opponent, Chris Christie. The latest polls say it's too close to call.

...The President has already suffered a slow, but steady, decline in his approval ratings, so it cheers no one in the White House that the outcome in Jersey is so uncertain. In Virginia, where the President campaigned this week, the outlook is worse with most polls suggesting that the Democrat candidate, Creigh Deeds, will be walloped by his Republican rival, Bob McDonnell.

If Republicans seize the governors' mansions in both states, the embarrassment will be acute. That is just what happened in both New Jersey and Virginia back in 1993 before the Republicans seized control of the US Congress the following year, dealing a crippling blow to the newly minted Democratic president of the time, Bill Clinton.

In Brazil, 35,000 people were fatally shot in 2007, and most of the deaths were drug-related. According to the government's public safety secretariat, there are nearly 23,000 drug-related homicides a year.

The drug war in Brazil is centered in its best-known city, Rio de Janeiro, and its slums, known as favelas, where police sometimes fear to tread, as well as in poor neighborhoods of Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador, Curitiba and Belo Horizonte. Gun battles rage between rival gangs that seek to control the lucrative trade, particularly in cocaine, whose use has doubled in recent years in Brazil, according to the United Nations.

...The weapons used by the traffickers are often unregistered; some are stolen from the police and the Brazilian army, according to the British magazine the Economist.

...[psyops alert:]

Luis Villamarin, a retired colonel in the Colombian army and author of many books about drug trafficking and counterterrorism, said the cocaine sold in Brazil comes largely from the Colombian Marxist guerrilla group FARC, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.

"The capture of Fernando Beira-Mar in 2002 was the first proof," he said, referring to the then-drug-kingpin in Brazil whose dealings with FARC were confirmed by Brazilian and Colombian authorities.

Mr. Villamarin also accused some Brazilian government employees of complicity with the Colombian guerrillas. In July 2008, the magazine Cambio asserted that the laptop of the former FARC leader Raul Reyes included messages from top advisers to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The press office of Brazil's presidency as well as the Justice Ministry have refused to comment on the allegations.

1. nursery worker who abused children 'names victims'

A nursery worker who sexually abused children in her care and took indecent images of her victims has named some of them, it was reported today.

Vanessa George, who worked at Little Ted's Nursery in Plymouth, Devon, had previously refused to name any of the victims and they were impossible to identify because their faces were not shown in the images.

The Mirror reported a source saying the 39-year-old had told "everything she knows", and said the number of abused children she had identified was in "double digits".

The source said all the victims were under the age of three, according to the paper.

...

George took more than 100 images and use a mobile phone to send them to two paedophiles she met on Facebook. She had never met them in person before they appeared in court together.

Co-defendants Colin Blanchard, 39, from Rochdale, and Angela Allen, also 39, from Nottingham, have admitted several sex offences.

2. man jailed for raping tourist

A man who raped a tourist in his home after offering her a place to stay through a travellers' website has been jailed for 10 years, police said today.

Abdelali Nachet, 34, subjected his victim to the "appalling" attack after meeting her on the CouchSurfing website and inviting her to stay at his flat in Leeds in March this year, West Yorkshire Police said.

The 29-year-old woman, from Hong Kong, had already successfully used the site, in which locals offer free accommodation to travellers, to stay at members' homes during a trip around Europe.

She wanted to visit Leeds and contacted Nachet, who is originally from Morocco, after seeing his advertisement.

But after arriving at his home in the Moortown area of the city, Nachet raped and threatened to murder his guest in an attack which police said "preyed on the kindness and hospitality of those using the internet to meet new people and explore new places".

3. sometimes things take longer: arrest warrants issued in German's vigilante kidnapping

Berlin -- A German court has ordered the arrest of an elderly Frenchman over the vigilante kidnapping of a German doctor convicted of killing his daughter 27 years ago, prosecutors said Tuesday.

The court in the southern city of Kempten has also issued a European arrest warrant for the 72-year-old Frenchman's alleged accomplice from Kosovo, aged 38, who is believed to have delivered cardiologist Dieter Krombach this month bound and gagged to a French court, the local prosecutor's office said.

...A French court in 1995 convicted the doctor in absentia of manslaughter over the death of 14-year-old Kalinka Bamberski, his stepdaughter, who died at his home near Lake Constance in 1982 after he gave her a mysterious injection.

Berlin had refused to hand him over on the grounds that he was tried and acquitted in Germany, but Bamberski spent two decades trying to have him sent to jail, convinced that he drugged Kalinka in order to rape her.

...The cardiologist was stripped of his licence and handed a suspended jail sentence in 1997 for sexually abusing a 16-year-old patient after injecting her with anaesthetic in his surgery.

French authorities must now decide whether to hand over Bamberski or keep him on French soil in an ongoing investigation, the prosecutor's office said in the statement. He is currently free on bail.

The suspect from Kosovo was arrested by Austrian authorities for extradition to Germany, which is still pending.

German authorities are still seeking the other alleged accomplices.

4. sometimes we get surprises: Angolagate: top French officials jailed over Angola arms-deal scandal

Tuesday’s verdict in the Angolagate case rocked the foundations of Paris. Angolagate, deemed as one of the most publicised political scandals, saw the inolvement of a number of high level personalities, including top French officials, in secret arms sale to the Angolan government during the 90’s. The 6-year prison terms slapped on Pierre-Joseph Falcone and Arcadi Gaydamak, have been deemed as severe. Pasqua and Marchiani also received prison sentences. Jean-Christophe Mitterrand and Paul-Loup Sulitzer, on the other hand, received suspended sentences, while Jacques Attali and Georges Fenech were cleared.

The Paris court on Tuesday issued its verdict in the Angolagate arms trafficking case. Out of a number of 42 defendants, only 6 were cleared. Commentators were clearly surprised by the severity of the verdict after the judge has issued a heavier sentence than that requested by the prosecution.

...Businessman Pierre-Joseph Falcone was sentenced to 6 years in prison, along with a committal warrant and was therefore escorted out of the court by two gendarmes. His convictions included "illicit arms trade, tax evasion" and "influence peddling". Falcone’s diplomatic immunity as Angola’s representative to UNESCO was disregarded due to the retrospective nature of the case as well as his French nationality.

Falcone’s business partner, the Russo-Israeli billionaire, Arcadi Gaydamak, also the principal defendant in the trial, was sentenced to 6 years in prison for "illicit arms trade," "abuse of public assets,” “tax fraud," “active influence peddling" and "money laundering". Arcadi Gaydamak is not serving his sentence. He has reportedly taken refuge in Israel and Russia, in order to escape several international arrest warrants. Gaydamak owns the Beitar football club in Jerusalem.

5. more surprises, like journalists actually doing their jobs!!: controversy in the UK over Ivory Coast toxic disaster

In 2006, more than 30,000 Ivorians fell victim to high levels of poisonous gasses from a lethal toxic waste which was dumped by an European Oil company, Trafigura, British and Ivorian press sources revealed. Thousands of Ivoirians were reportedly rushed to local clinics, following the discovery of the dumped wastes, where nearly twenty people died. Up to seventy affected persons were hospitalised and a record 108,000 sought medical advice. Trafigura have claimed that there is no link between the gasses and the health disaster.

In the past few weeks, the controversial and toxic issue has resurfaced in the UK. British Journalists and Members of Parliament have found themselves in a rather stifling position to openly discuss a confidential report incriminating Trafigura after a ‘super-injunction’ was obtained from the high court by Trafigura’s lawyers.

Journalists from the Guardian newspaper, last month claimed to have obtained detailed confidential draft documents that stated that the waste dumped by Trafigura in West Africa was potentially highly toxic and capable of severe effects on human health.

1. Zionist judge lets the mask slip: West Bank land belongs to the jews

excerpt:

“When we [Israelis] say that this is a political conflict, then we lose the battle,” he told the Guardian, adding that it should be remembered that the ancient land of Israel is “given to us by the Bible, not by some United Nations”.

Agassi, one of the most important officials in the military courts wielding authority over large parts of the West Bank, says settling Jews on lands that made up ancient Israel stands above all other biblical commandments and only when it is done can they have “a promised land and a promised life”.

“You say that these lands ‘passed into Jewish hands’. Others would say that they came back into Jewish hands. Others would say that they are obviously ours, inherently,” he said. It was, he claims, a mistake to call it the State of Israel. “If we would have named it the State of Jews, the Arabs would have understood that this land belongs to the Jews.”

Agassi served in the legal department that oversaw the confiscation of land in the West Bank to build Jewish settlements and was then appointed to the military court that decided Palestinian appeals against the seizure of their property. The Palestinians almost never won. His court also ruled on legal disputes between Jewish settlers and Palestinians.

2. Soros: a new economic system is required

BUDAPEST, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian-born investor and philanthropist George Soros said in Budapest, Hungary, on Tuesday that the entire edifice of global financial markets that has been erected on the false premise that markets can be left to their own devices has to be rebuilt from the ground up and that a new economic paradigm is required.

Soros who came out of retirement in 2007 to help manage his hedge fund firm Soros Fund Management through the recent crisis, also announced that he will set up and sponsor an Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) intended to foster research, workshops and curricula that will aim to develop an alternative to the prevailing economic system.

Soros said he will commit 50 million dollars over ten years and hopes that other donors will join. INET will be launched in Cambridge University, England, in April 2010. The Central European University in Budapest, which is hosting a series of lectures this week by Soros, will also be a hub of the INET network.

The lust for power does not have any limits. Michael Bloomberg, one of world’s richest men, the mayor of New York, started speaking Russian all of a sudden. Many of those living here now represent the generation of people who came to New York from the USSR in the beginning of the 1970s. They are mostly Jews, who reside in the Brighton Beach area. 5. hackers deface US embassy site in Brazil with 'putrid trash of a country' - message seems to be down with the US up with Brazil

"Putrid trash of a country" was one of the messages left apparently by hackers at the homepage of the

American embassy in Brazil. It took the diplomatic representation of the US a few hours before they noticed the defaced site and then took it off the air.

The site, found at www.embaixada-americana.org.br and http://brasilia.usembassy.gov/, was attacked this Tuesday night. The embassy turned off the site about 11 pm. A call to the embassy by the G1 site was answered by a security officer who didn't know anything about the defacing, but told the reporter he would warn his superiors about the problem.

On a black background the hackers posted a close-up of an eye sporting the Brazilian flag's colors and a young lady who seems to be saying something. The image was signed by a group calling itself FIREH4CK3R. They also left the message: Fighting for Brazil.

The homepage cache from Google snapped on October 24, had among other headlines: "US Embassy Announces Winners of the 2010 Youth Ambassadors Program," "President Barack Obama wins the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize," "F/A 18 Super Horne on the Move," "Secretary Hillary Clinton: A New Approach To Global Food Security and Hunger."

The main article on the page says, "Brasília, 2009 - On October 16, the 35 candidates selected to take part in the U.S. Embassy's Cultural Exchange Program, "Youth Ambassadors," were announced. This is the eighth edition of the program that will take the students to the United States for three weeks, from January 8 to 30, 2010.

"The experience of being a Youth Ambassador gives them the opportunity to expand their horizons at the same time as they help us strengthen the ties of friendship, respect and collaboration between Brazil and the United States," said the United States Embassy's Chargé d' Affaires, Lisa Kubiske during the ceremony at the Banco Bradesco's headquarters in São Paulo.

afghanistan, epic fail for human beings, great success for destabilization agenda

1. US official resigns over Afghan war

When Matthew Hoh joined the Foreign Service early this year, he was exactly the kind of smart civil-military hybrid the administration was looking for to help expand its development efforts in Afghanistan.

A former Marine Corps captain with combat experience in Iraq, Hoh had also served in uniform at the Pentagon, and as a civilian in Iraq and at the State Department. By July, he was the senior U.S. civilian in Zabul province, a Taliban hotbed.

But last month, in a move that has sent ripples all the way to the White House, Hoh, 36, became the first U.S. official known to resign in protest over the Afghan war, which he had come to believe simply fueled the insurgency.

...While he did not share Hoh's view that the war "wasn't worth the fight," Holbrooke said, "I agreed with much of his analysis." He asked Hoh to join his team in Washington, saying that "if he really wanted to affect policy and help reduce the cost of the war on lives and treasure," why not be "inside the building, rather than outside, where you can get a lot of attention but you won't have the same political impact?"

3. helicopter rumors refuse to die

MAZAR-E-SHARIF - Persistent accounts of Western forces in Afghanistan using their helicopters to ferry Taliban fighters, strongly denied by the military, is feeding mistrust of the forces that are supposed to be bringing order to the country.

One such tale came from a soldier from the 209th Shahin Corps of the Afghan National Army, fighting against the growing insurgency in Kunduz province in northern Afghanistan. Over several months, he had taken part in several pitched battles against the armed opposition.

"Just when the police and army managed to surround the Taliban in a village of Qala-e-Zaal district, we saw helicopters land with support teams," he said. "They managed to rescue their friends from our encirclement, and even to inflict defeat on the Afghan National Army."

This story, in one form or another, is being repeated throughout northern Afghanistan. Dozens of people claim to have seen Taliban fighters disembark from foreign helicopters in several provinces. The local talk is of the insurgency being consciously moved north, with international troops ferrying fighters in from the volatile south, to create mayhem in a new location.

Helicopters are almost exclusively the domains of foreign forces in Afghanistan; the international military controls the air space and has a virtual monopoly on aircraft. So when Afghans see choppers, they think foreign military. "Our fight against the Taliban is nonsense," said the soldier from Shahin Corps. "Our foreigner 'friends' are friendlier to the opposition."

4. Taliban take over Afghan province

ISLAMABAD - The United States has withdrawn its troops from its four key bases in Nuristan, on the border with Pakistan, leaving the northeastern province as a safe haven for the Taliban-led insurgency to orchestrate its regional battles.

The US has retained some forces in Nuristan's capital, Parun, to provide security for the governor and government facilities. The American position concerning the withdrawal is that due to winter conditions, supply arteries are choked, making it difficult to keep forces in remote areas. The US has pulled out from some areas in the past, but never from all four main bases.

...
The province is now under the effective control of the network belonging to Qari Ziaur Rahman, a Taliban commander with strong ties to Bin Laden. This makes Nuristan the first Afghan province to be controlled by a network inspired by al-Qaeda. [a long way of saying under the control of the CIA - ed.]

the NWO destabilization agenda

1. destabilization in Turkey: the deep-state agenda

The name "Ergenekon" may not be familiar to non-Turks, but this murky affair has riveted Turkey's 70 million people. Thirty-three members of a neo-fascist group called Ergenekon have been on trial, accused of murder, terrorism, and trying to overthrow the elected government. The trial was temporarily suspended after the courthouse was flooded out.

The trial has been laying bare the workings of the "deep state," a powerful cabal of retired military officers, security forces, gangsters, government officials, judges, and business oligarchs that has long been the real power in this complex nation.

Turkey's military vigorously denies any links to the Ergenekon.

The "deep state" advocates extreme Turkish nationalism and revived Pan-Turkism, or Turanism, the unification of all Turkic peoples from Turkey to the Great Wall of China. Its extreme right-wing members are bitterly anti-Islamic, and violently oppose any admission of guilt for the mass killing during World War I of many of the Ottoman Empire's Armenians. Most Turks insist the killings occurred in the chaos of war and insurrection. Armenians insist it was the 20th century's first genocide.

2. destablilization in action: Kurdish opening lands Erdegon in tight spot, "no surprise" to pro-Israel WINEP

ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to expand Kurdish rights and end a bloody insurgency, analysts said Tuesday. But the government has been criticised since last week when a group of rebels from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) crossed from Iraq into Turkey in symbolic surrender to show support for Ankara's Kurdish opening and were set free shortly.

Although Erdogan initially hailed the group's arrival as a boost to his reconciliation plan, the subsequent hero's welcome organized for the rebels by thousands of Kurds chanting pro-PKK slogans soured the mood.

Amid accusations of showing leniency to "terrorists" behind a 25-year rebellion, Erdogan announced that the arrival of a second rebel group had been postponed and that his government would take a break to assess the situation.

The development was no surprise, said Soner Cagaptay from the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. [uh huh why's that? - ed.]

3. false flag activity on Israeli Lebanon border?

A Katyusha rocket fired from Lebanon hit northern Israel on Tuesday night without causing casualties, prompting Israel to retaliate with artillery, sources on both sides said.

The attack, which was not immediately claimed, was the latest incident in growing cross-border tensions, and an Israeli military spokeswoman laid ultimate blame on the Beirut government.

The rocket landed in open ground east of the Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona and started a fire but caused no serious damage, sources there said.

A security source in Lebanon said eight rockets fired from Israel then hit near the border village of Hula. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

4. "NOT UNEXPECTEDLY," Iraq is being divided, a little piece of "mission accomplished" hell on earth sponsored by the Clean Break crowd

Robert Dreyfuss is a contributing editor to The Nation magazine

The perpetrators of the huge bomb attacks are unknown.
Not unexpectedly, every Iraqi faction is blaming its enemies. ...

Indirectly speaking for the Shiite bloc, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of Iran has blamed "foreign agents" for the attacks: "The bloody actions being committed in some Islamic countries, including Iraq, Pakistan and in some parts of the country (Iran), are aimed at creating division between the Shiites and Sunnis.... Those who carry out these terrorist actions are directly or indirectly foreign agents."

Al Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the bombings, but such claims have to be taken with a grain of salt.

The basic fact remains that, as US forces draw down, Iraq is perched on the brink of renewed civil war. One flashpoint is Kirkuk and other areas of Iraq claimed by the Kurds. Many Sunnis are increasingly resentful of Maliki's arrogance, his refusal to accommodate Sunni demands, and his fealty to Iran. And various Shiite militias, including the Sadr's Mahdi Army and the ISCI Badr Brigades, are likely to support their electoral efforts with armed might. It is going to be a bumpy ride.

crazy people and their crazy talking points which have no attachment to reality

1. Jim Jones: our support of Israel is not just a slogan

US National Security Advisor Jim Jones said Tuesday that Iran will not be allowed to evade making a decision on the nuclear deal offered by the West, noting that it will soon be made clear whether Iran intends on abiding the agreements struck in Geneva. Jones emphasized that, until then, it must be made clear that no option is being taken off the table.

According to Jones, if Iran were to transfer its uranium to another country, the amount of uranium in its stockpiles will fall below the required amount for manufacturing a nuclear weapon. He said that, to this end, the meeting in Geneva was a good start, but was still just the beginning. He emphasized that the goal of the US is to prevent Iran from obtaining “nuclear weapons”.

In his keynote speech at the J Street conference in Washington, Jones reiterated American commitment to Israel's security, saying this was not just a slogan tossed around and said that this commitment was stronger than ever under the Obama administration. He said that the US has shown its support for Israel's right to “self defense”

2. Tsipi Livni, fresh off her meeting with Bibi, says Iran is "toying with the world"

Israeli Kadima leader Tzipi Livni on Wednesday morning warned that "Iran is toying with the world," and claimed the current proposed deal between the West and Tehran may not be sufficient to ensure the Islamic republic will not achieve military nuclear capability.

According to the UN-drafted deal, Iran would ship much of its uranium to Russia and France for further enrichment, setting back the nuclear program and the time frame in which Iran could reach "breakout" capacity.

"Iran is toying with the world. The deal doesn't solve a major issue - the complete halt of uranium enrichment. There's a clear international consensus that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable," Livni said in a statement during a one-day visit in Moscow. Livni told Israel Radio that in her meetings with Russian officials, she intends to stress the risks posed by the proposed deal.

"The international and Iranian state of mind must be that all the options are on the table if an arrangement that fully prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear arms is not reached," she stressed. Livni went on to warn that the demands set by the international community must not be eroded. "We are now in the critical point in time - the offer is on the table and the powers have announced they accept the idea, but it is important to prevent erosion," she said.

3. but people, the EXTRAORDINARY danger comes not from these whack-job war-mongering Israelis and their American puppets, it comes from.....Sudan

WASHINGTON - US President Barack Obama renewed sanctions on Sudan Tuesday, a week after unveiling a new policy of pressure and incentives toward the Khartoum government aimed at settling the simmering conflict.

"The crisis constituted by the actions and policies of the government of Sudan... has not been resolved," Obama said in a message to Congress about the one-year extension of sanctions.

"These actions and policies are hostile to US interests and pose a continuing unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States."

The sanctions restrict US trade with and investment in Sudan, freezes the Sudanese government assets in the United States, and bans transactions with individuals and entities linked to the conflict in Darfur.

Critics say the ICC warrant singles out weak states like Sudan, while taking a hypocritical stance towards countries like the US and Israel by ignoring worse atrocities committed by them, and by not charging American and Israeli officials with war crimes and crimes against humanity.

2. China hawks target US sign-off shuffle

by Peter J. Brown

The White House in late September released a "presidential determination" that entailed a memorandum to United States Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke. It went virtually undetected. It simply stated:
Subject: Presidential Determination on the Delegation of Certifications Under Section 1512 of Public Law 105-261. By virtue of the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 301 of Title 3, United States Code, I hereby delegate to you the functions of the President under section 1512 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1999.
Under Section 1512, President Barack Obama is required to certify to the US Congress that above all else, US space-launch industry interests are protected and that by exporting the missile hardware or technology in question, China's missile or space launch capabilities will not be somehow improved in the process, nor will China benefit even indirectly by the proposed transaction.

Shortly thereafter, The Washington Times ran a story that said, in effect, that China could now celebrate because by shifting authority to Locke's office Obama had suddenly rewritten the rulebook when it came to exports of missile and space-related technology to China.

...[big snip]

What emerges here is a very dark cloud that now hangs over all the upbeat talk that there are long-awaited signs of progress appearing in Washington, DC.

The notion that Chinese military personnel were provided with a US-based mail order house that shipped items on a weekly basis back to China while operating completely under the radar of the US defense and law enforcement communities for a decade is baffling. Nor does it does bode well especially for those supporters of reform who argue that existing export controls and customs oversight are adequate to meet the additional workload that any meaningful export regulatory reform will certainly trigger.

In a nutshell, customs and law enforcement agents in the US face a significant challenge as they attempt to monitor outbound technology transfers and terminate the actions of those who traffic in illegal exports.

US army bases will appear on the Black Sea Coast – in Bulgaria and Romania. About $50 million will be assigned to build the base in Romania, and the Pentagon plans to spend $60 million more for the same purpose in Bulgaria.

The Romanian base is expected to be put in operation in 2010, whereas the second one will most likely be launched in 2011 or 2012. Over 4,000 US military men are expected to serve at the two bases: 1,600 in Romania and 2,500 in Bulgaria. The authorities of the two nations expect that the US military men will settle there for a long time.

...

Alexander Khramchikhin, deputy director of the Institute for Political and Military Analysis, said in an interview with Pravda.Ru that the plans of the United States to build army bases in Romania and Bulgaria were exposed nearly a decade ago.

“Indeed, the Americans need more bases for their actions in the Middle East. They have bases in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, but they are not enough to satisfy all of Washington’s needs. The Pentagon needs new bases in Eastern Europe to maintain its troops in the Middle East,” the expert said.

Another expert, Konstantin Sivkov, told Pravda.Ru that the appearance of new army bases in Bulgaria and Romania would pose a threat to Russian interests.

Have you been ISA-cleared? If you want a new job then you had soon better be. According to Sir Roger Singleton, head of the Independent Safeguarding Authority (the aforementioned ISA), a clean bill of health from his fledgling organisation will become as important as a professional qualification for any aspiring employee. It will announce to the world that you are not a paedophile, that you have not assaulted a child and do not pose a danger to vulnerable old people. The state will have decreed that you are not a monster.

If you are coming around slowly to the view that this country is going mad then confirmation came yesterday with Sir Roger’s comments in this newspaper. It is now, apparently, considered perfectly reasonable to regard the entire adult population as a potential pool of criminal suspects. Indeed, new figures from the Justice Department show that an increasing number of people is being criminalised, principally the over-40s who have never been in trouble with the police and have never really done anything wrong apart from breaking the speed limit occasionally. The number of over-40s receiving a first conviction or caution has increased by half since 2001 and is now running at 65 a day. The figures reflect the fact that many of Labour’s new spot fines for ''crimes’’ such as overfilling a wheelie bin are aimed at householders.

Dear Chairwoman Boxer and Ranking Member Inhofe:

At 5:03 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009, at the start of the three-day Columbus Day weekend, the White House announced a nomination to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). President Obama's nomination of William D. Magwood to the post of Commissioner on the NRC should not be relegated to the shadows, but should be examined in the full light of public and congressional scrutiny.

Mr. Magwood's nomination violates the spirit of President Obama's "Ethics Commitment by Executive Branch Personnel Executive Order" (Ethics Executive Order). Since his retirement from government service in 2005, Mr. Magwood has been actively involved in efforts to advance nuclear industry business opportunities domestically and abroad. He founded Advanced Energy Strategies which provides "expert advice and analysis of U.S. and international energy policy activities; nuclear industry developments and prospects; and supporting business development efforts." Mr. Magwood has also been an investor in and President of Secure Energy North America Corporation, a company that is "working with industry and investors to develop novel approaches to finance new nuclear power stations in the United States." Prior to his government service, Mr. Magwood also managed nuclear policy programs at the Edison Electric Institute, an industry trade association.

Members of Congress questioned whether federal officials were too rosy in their estimates of how much vaccine would be available and when, and companies said they were still struggling to produce immunizations against H1N1.

CDC director Dr. Thomas Frieden said 22.4 million doses were now available to states, which can get them a day after they order them.

"It's quite likely that too little vaccine is one of the things that's making people more interested in getting vaccinated, frankly," Frieden told reporters.

"We think it will get easier to find vaccine in the weeks that come."

President Barack Obama's daughters found it. "Malia and Sasha were both vaccinated for H1N1 last week, after the vaccine became available to Washington, D.C. schoolchildren," a White House blog reads.

"President and Mrs. Obama have not yet been vaccinated for H1N1, and they will wait until the needs of the priority groups identified by the CDC -- including young people under the age of 24, pregnant women, and people with underlying conditions -- have been met."

Many states and cities say they have received about one-tenth as much vaccine as they originally had expected by this time. Frieden said the delays may discourage people who are lining up for vaccine.

"It is likely also as we produce more vaccine and as both people are given the opportunity to get vaccinated, and as disease maybe wanes in the future, we will have significant amounts of vaccine that can't be used," Frieden said.

"One of the messages for states, localities and health providers is not to reserve vaccine that they have available, to give it out as soon as it comes in, because more is on the way."

In September, U.S. officials said 40 million vaccine doses would be available by the end of October and they estimated 20 million doses a week would be delivered, with a goal of 250 million doses by the end of flu season in March or April.

2. Israel refuses to free 125 detainees in exchange for Gilad Shalit

Israel's reluctance to release a group of 125 Palestinians is holding up a prisoner exchange deal, Osama al-Muzaini, a senior Hamas figure in charge of the negotiations over captive Israeli occupation soldier Gilad Shalit, said Wednesday.

Nearly a month has passed since the resistance group released a video proving that Shalit is alive and well, but both sides claim a prisoner swap is still far off. Al-Muzaini said Hamas cannot agree to a deal that would not include the release of the 125 Palestinians, all of whom are considered "heavy" prisoners. However, he said "serious and intense" negotiations were continuing, as are "efforts to remove the remaining obstacles."

"In any case, there are no developments at this time," said the Hamas figure, "But the German mediator wants to secure an agreement, and we are pleased with his work. I hope this affair will come to an end in the very near future." Any future prisoner exchange deal will apparently include the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Shalit.

3. 'Washington Sniper' to be executed on Nov 10 by injection

WASHINGTON, October 28 (RIA Novosti) - John Allen Muhammad, a 'sniper,' who went on a killing spree in the United States in 2002 murdering 10 and wounding six people, was sent to death in Virginia on November 10.

Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said 'the sniper' will be executed by a lethal injection in the state of Virginia.

"Muhammad declined to choose between lethal injection and electrocution, so under state law [of Virginia] the method defaults to lethal injection," Traylor was quoted by the U.S. media as saying.

Muhammad, 48, carried out attacks with a teenage accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo, who is already serving a life sentence in the United States, and began shooting people with a sniper rifle in the states of Alabama and Louisiana, before moving to the Washington D.C. area.
