When we are led to believe a lie

Here is a good one. Every now and then someone looks behind the curtain and is able to get a glimpse of reality beyond the smoke and mirrors illusions created by all the Harvard business graduates. If they are able to pull off this hoax at Generous Motors just imagine what is really going on at Wall Street, the 12 Federal Reserve Banks, and the US Treasury.

Further, if I had not heard it myself in Obama’s address yesterday, I would not be able to level harsh criticism of Obama’s genuineness. We all heard it; when banks get one dollar on deposit, they are able to place eight more into circulation via fractional reserve lending. This is a debt based economy; it doesn’t have to be this way; and Obama is promoting it. If you and I have one dollar, we are able to lend only one dollar. It is not so with banks. Add this corrupt usury practice to the thrift paradox written about below and what do you get? You get a bunch of pencil pushers who are squeezing the life out of workers all over the world. We produce; they live in the lap of luxury.

Bilderberg Plan for 2009: Remaking the Global Political Economy

Before the meeting began, Bilderberg investigative journalist Daniel Estulin reported on the main item of the agenda, which was leaked to him by his sources inside. Though such reports cannot be verified, his sources, along with those of veteran Bilderberg tracker, Jim Tucker, have proven to be shockingly accurate in the past. Apparently, the main topic of discussion at this years meeting was to address the economic crisis, in terms of undertaking, "Either a prolonged, agonizing depression that dooms the world to decades of stagnation, decline and poverty ... or an intense-but-shorter depression that paves the way for a new sustainable economic world order, with less sovereignty but more efficiency." Other items on the agenda included a plan to "continue to deceive millions of savers and investors who believe the hype about the supposed up-turn in the economy. They are about to be set up for massive losses and searing financial pain in the months ahead," and "There will be a final push for the enactment of Lisbon Treaty, pending on Irish voting YES on the treaty in Sept or October,"[1] which would give the European Union massive powers over its member nations, essentially making it a supranational regional government, with each country relegated to more of a provincial status.

US inflation to approach Zimbabwe level

May 27 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. economy will enter “hyperinflation” approaching the levels in Zimbabwe because the Federal Reserve will be reluctant to raise interest rates, investor Marc Faber said.

Prices may increase at rates “close to” Zimbabwe’s gains, Faber said in an interview with Bloomberg Television in Hong Kong. Zimbabwe’s inflation rate reached 231 million percent in July, the last annual rate published by the statistics office.

“I am 100 percent sure that the U.S. will go into hyperinflation,” Faber said. “The problem with government debt growing so much is that when the time will come and the Fed should increase interest rates, they will be very reluctant to do so and so inflation will start to accelerate.”

Exploding Debt Threatens America

Standard and Poor’s decision to downgrade its outlook for British sovereign debt from “stable” to “negative” should be a wake-up call for the US Congress and administration. Let us hope they wake up.

Under President Barack Obama’s budget plan, the federal debt is exploding. To be precise, it is rising – and will continue to rise – much faster than gross domestic product, a measure of America’s ability to service it. The federal debt was equivalent to 41 per cent of GDP at the end of 2008; the Congressional Budget Office projects it will increase to 82 per cent of GDP in 10 years. With no change in policy, it could hit 100 per cent of GDP in just another five years.

“A government debt burden of that [100 per cent] level, if sustained, would in Standard & Poor’s view be incompatible with a triple A rating,” as the risk rating agency stated last week.

Balochistan is the ultimate prize

It's a classic case of calm before the storm. The AfPak chapter of Obama's brand new OCO ("Overseas Contingency Operations"), formerly GWOT ("global war on terror") does not imply only a surge in the Pashtun Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). A surge in Balochistan as well may be virtually inevitable.

Balochistan is totally under the radar of Western corporate media. But not the Pentagon's. An immense desert comprising almost 48% of Pakistan's area, rich in uranium and copper, potentially very rich in oil, and producing more than one-third of Pakistan's natural gas, it accounts for less than 4% of Pakistan's 173 million citizens. Balochs are the majority, followed by Pashtuns. Quetta, the provincial capital, is considered Taliban Central by the Pentagon, which for all its high-tech wizardry mysteriously has not been able to locate Quetta resident "The Shadow", historic Taliban emir Mullah Omar himself.

Strategically, Balochistan is mouth-watering: east of Iran, south of Afghanistan, and boasting three Arabian sea ports, including Gwadar, practically at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz.

Study: Children who get flu vaccine have 3X risk of hospitalization for flu

The inactivated flu vaccine does not appear to be effective in preventing influenza-related hospitalizations in children, especially the ones with asthma. In fact, children who get the flu vaccine are more at risk for hospitalization than their peers who do not get the vaccine, according to new research that will be presented on May 19, at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society in San Diego.

Flu vaccine (trivalent inactivated flu vaccine—TIV) has unknown effects on asthmatics.

“The concerns that vaccination maybe associated with asthma exacerbations have been disproved with multiple studies in the past, but the vaccine’s effectiveness has not been well-established,” said Avni Joshi, M.D., of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. “This study was aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the TIV in children overall, as well as the children with asthma, to prevent influenza-related hospitalization.”

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommend annual influenza vaccination for all children aged six months to 18 years. The National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (3rd revision) also recommends annual flu vaccination of asthmatic children older than six months.

Brussels unveils plans for tougher bank monitoring

BRUSSELS (AFP) — The European Commission on Wednesday unveiled plans for a tough new monitoring system for banks and other financial bodies to be in place next year, aiming to better protect investors hit by the crisis.

"Now is the time for action, it will be now or never," said EU commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso, introducing the plans at a press conference.

One of the key proposals is to create a new European Systemic Risk Council (ESRC), to be chaired by the European Central Bank president, which would give EU nations an early warning of threats to financial stability.

The heads of all national central banks would be members of the new body.

Barak: US must learn outposts and Iran are unrelated issues

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Tuesday that the United States must be told that Iran's nuclear program and outpost activity in the West Bank are two unrelated issues.

"We need to find a way to explain to the Americans that there is no link between outposts and Iran," Barak told reporters. "It's not as though the minute an illegal outpost is dismantled the Iranian will abandon their nuclear aspirations. Therefore, these issues must not be directly hinged on one another."

"The Iranian threat does not face the State of Israel alone. Iran is threatening the stability of the entire region, as well as many European and Muslim states," Barak added. "The free world, moderate elements in the region and Israel see eye to eye on this threat.

Israeli lawmakers debate annexing West Bank

Israeli lawmakers have debated a proposal based on which the regime would annex parts of the West Bank occupied in the 1967 war.

Hawkish lawmaker Aryeh Eldad brought forward the proposal last week and it was debated in a Knesset meeting organized by Likud on alternatives to the US-backed two-state solution.

If the plan is ratified, some parts of the West Bank which are populated by Palestinians would be handed over to Jordan.

The idea, however, sparked controversy with Jordan summoning Israeli Ambassador to demand explanation.

Iran sends warships to Guld of Aden

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran has sent six warships to international waters, including the Gulf of Aden, to show its ability to confront any foreign threats, its naval commander said on Monday.

Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, quoted by the ISNA news agency, made the announcement five days after Iran said it test-fired a surface-to-surface missile with a range of 2,000 km (1,200 miles), putting Israel and U.S. bases in the area within reach.

Iran said on May 14 it had sent two warships to the Gulf of Aden to protect oil tankers from the world's fifth-largest crude exporter against attacks by pirates but ISNA did not make clear whether they were among the six Sayyari talked about.

Iranian waters stretch along the Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman. Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 40 percent of the world's traded oil is shipped, if it were attacked over its nuclear programme.

Secretly Selling Sotomayor

So Obama didn't pick a Jewess, he picked a Latina. Wonders never cease. - Ed.

Less than an hour after President Obama announced his Supreme Court nominee yesterday, two "senior administration officials" began holding forth for reporters on the virtues of Sonia Sotomayor.

Several journalists in the Roosevelt Room briefing protested, saying there was no reason the officials couldn't speak on the record. One of the briefers, senior adviser David Axelrod, would be making a similar case on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and PBS within hours. But Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stood his ground: no names could be attached.

The effort to buttress the appeals court judge's nomination from behind a curtain of anonymity highlights the administration's determination to frame the narrative, even as cable news pundits and bloggers were alternately praising and criticizing Sotomayor.

Sotomayor has long record in business cases

(Reuters) - Sonia Sotomayor, nominated by President Barack Obama for the U.S. Supreme Court, has a lengthy record of rulings in business cases as a federal judge in New York.

But legal experts said Sotomayor does not appear to be either particularly liberal or conservative on business issues -- resulting in a patchwork of decisions based more on the merits and facts of the cases than an ideological approach to the law.

As I was praying on April 25th, 2000, I began to see in my mind a picture of the Lord. He was sitting on a rock and groups of people of all ages were gathered around Him. They all seemed to be laughing and talking together. I felt joy and peace and happiness as I viewed this scene. At times, the Lord would reach down and bring a child onto His lap. Or, He would reach out and a baby would be placed into His arms. He would then gaze down into the face of the baby and speak softly and tenderly to the baby. At other times, someone would draw close to His side, and He would place His arm around them, and draw them closer to Him.

An angel approached the Lord. The crowd before the Lord parted to allow the angel to draw near to the Lord. A silence fell over the laughing, joyous crowd as the angel stopped before the Lord and began to speak. From the way this angel was dressed, I sensed immediately that this was a warring angel. Being a warring angel and well aware of the coming battle plan of the enemy, he spoke with a strong sense of urgency and even perplexity in his voice. He was very concerned.

“There is work to be done,” the angel said to the Lord. “Why do the people only sit here idly? These are dangerous times. The people should be doing battle in prayer and in the spirit. Instead, they sit here at Your feet, laughing. They are completely unaware of what is even now transpiring in the courts of hell.” With great concern in his voice, the angel asked, ” Why are You allowing this?”

Obama combines security councils, adds new offices

President Obama announced yesterday that he will merge the staffs of the Homeland Security Council and the National Security Council to speed up and unify security policymaking inside the White House.

The combined national security staff, about 240 people, will report to national security adviser James L. Jones.

The White House also will add new offices for cybersecurity, for terrorism involving weapons of mass destruction, and for "resilience" -- a national security directorate aimed at preparedness and response for a domestic WMD attack, pandemic or natural catastrophe, officials said.

"The challenges of the 21st century are increasingly unconventional and transnational, and therefore demand a response that effectively integrates all aspects of American power," Obama said in a statement.

WMR has learned from a research scientist who has been working on the recreation of the 1918 flu that the genetic material has been re-engineered to synthetically create what is now known as the A/H1N1 virus, or as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) calls it, the “novel flu.”

The A/H1N1 influenza, which contains genetic material from two strains of swine flu, two strains of human flu, and a single strain of avian flu, has, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), infected, as of May 13, a total of 4,880 people in North America: 2,059 in Mexico; 2,535 in the United States, and 286 in Canada. There have been 56 reported deaths from the flu in Mexico, three in the United States, and one in Canada.

WMR has learned from an A/H1N1 researcher that the current “novel” flu strain is mutating rapidly in humans but no animals have contracted the virus. The enzyme in A/H1N1, as with all influenza A viruses, is called a polymerase. Scientists have calculated the molecular clock of A/H1N1 form the virus’s polymerase rate. Because of the rapid mutation of the virus and the fact that, unlike 1918, rapid global transportation is now the norm, scientists are predicting that the molecular clock of the A/H1N1 virus, coupled with modern transportation, means that almost all the countries of the world will experience an A/H1N1 outbreak within the next few months.

What is different about A/H1N1 is that, unlike other new strains of viruses that rapidly mutate upon emerging and then slow down mutation and then stop entirely, the “novel” or incorrectly-named “swine flu” is showing no signs yet of slowing down its mutation rate and that, according to scientists who worry about A/H1N1 being synthetically-generated, does not happen in nature.

In 2006, at a summit meeting in Cancun, Mexico, President George W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and Mexican President Vicente Fox agreed for their nations to coordinate their response to avian flu, which was spreading in Asia. National Public Radio, on April 2, 2006, ran a segment on how bird flu wreaked havoc in 1918 in Brevig Mission. NPR’s Weekend Edition ran a report from Brevig Mission by Lori Townsend of Alaska Public Radio: “The grave has been opened twice by the same pathologist. In 1951, Johann Hultin convinced village elders to allow him to take tissue samples from bodies buried in permafrost. His lab attempts to map the virus were unsuccessful, but he returned in 1997, and when he did, he was once again given permission to re-open the grave.”

WMR has learned from a journalist from Anchorage who covered the 1997 grave exhumation that there was CIA personnel with the team of scientists. Inuit elders of Brevig Mission argued that digging up the graves of the flu victims would release evil spirits. However, money allegedly changed hands between the U.S. government research team and some of the elders, so permission to dig up the graves was granted.

NPR and Alaska Public Radio was reporting what was extracted from the 1918 flu victim’s corpse was the H5N1 avian flu virus, but that was erroneous. Or was it? If what was extracted from the dead woman’s body in Brevig Mission was used to synthetically create the current A/H1N1 virus, there is a strain of avian flu in the virus. But the current A/H1N1 virus also contains swine and human flu strains.

"Secret" Israeli report: Venezuela, Bolivia supplying Iran with Uranium for its nuclear program

JERUSALEM — Venezuela and Bolivia are supplying Iran with uranium for its nuclear program, according to a secret Israeli government report obtained Monday by The Associated Press.

The two South American countries are known to have close ties with Iran, but this is the first allegation that they are involved in the development of Iran's nuclear program, considered a strategic threat by Israel.

"There are reports that Venezuela supplies Iran with uranium for its nuclear program," the Foreign Ministry document states, referring to previous Israeli intelligence conclusions. It added, "Bolivia also supplies uranium to Iran."

The report concludes that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is trying to undermine the United States by supporting Iran.

Warmongering Israel Is Everyone's Problem

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considers the lifting of the Iranian nuclear threat his life's mission. Before coming to power, he had mentioned that such an operation might cost thousands of lives, but the price was justified in view of the threat's severity. His comments yesterday at the meeting of Likud's Knesset faction put to rest Ariel Sharon's doctrine that Iran is not just Israel's problem but the entire world's problem, and Israel must not be at the forefront of the struggle. Israel is now at the forefront.

Israeli: Obama 'wasn't empathetic to our needs'

JERUSALEM — Israel is bracing for what officials called a confrontational U.S. policy.

"From the banks of the Potomac in Washington it is not always clear what the real situation here is," Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon said. "This is where Israel must step in and help her ally understand the situation."

Officials said the May 18 meeting between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not lead to any agreements or understandings regarding either the West Bank or Iran. They said Obama, encouraged by his Jewish advisers, stressed that the U.S. aim to establish a Palestinian state would determine Washington's relations with the Jewish state.

"Obama listened and even smiled, but you could see he wasn't empathetic to our needs," an official said.

Bibi thinks dismantling a few settlements is a small price to pay to start WW III

TEL AVI - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is willing to tear down illegal Jewish settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank in return for US backing on its proposed military strikes against Iran, local media reported on Tuesday.

Netanyahu told his right-wing Likud faction on Monday that Israel would have to dismantle what it considers illegal outposts, as demanded by Washington, since the issue of Iran was more important, newspaper reports said.

"I identify the danger and that's why I am willing to take unpopular steps such as evacuating outposts. The Iranian threat is above everything," the mass-selling Yediot Aharonot quoted Netanyahu as saying.

"There are things on which you have to compromise."

Nasrallah: Israel behind Lebanon assassinations

BEIRUT - Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah on Monday accused Israel of being behind a report implicating his party in the killing of ex-premier Rafiq Hariri and called the claim "very, very dangerous."

"The report in Der Spiegel is very, very, very dangerous," Nasrallah said in comments transmitted via video link to thousands of supporters massed in Hezbollah's stronghold in Beirut's southern suburbs.

"I consider the report in Der Spiegel an Israeli accusation that Hezbollah killed the martyr Rafiq Hariri and we will deal with this claim as such," he said.

"Israel has issued its verdict in the Hariri case," he said in a speech marking the ninth anniversary of the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon after 22 years of occupation.

"Through this report they (the Israelis) are saying that if the international community does not punish Hezbollah then Israel will punish it along with its leader," he added.

FBI agent on synagogue case has questionable record

The FBI agent with a high-profile role in yesterday's arrests of four men for plotting a terror attack in New York has a pretty interesting -- and controversial -- track record.

Special Agent Robert Fuller, whose name appears at the top of the federal criminal complaint in the case, had a hand in the FBI's failure to nab two of the 9/11 hijackers, had one of his informants set himself on fire in front of the White House, and was involved in misidentifying a Canadian man as a terrorist leading to his secret arrest and torture -- a case that is now the subject of a major lawsuit.

Fuller is listed as the lead agent in the arrests of four men yesterday who officials say were trying to blow up a couple of synagogues and shoot a military jet from the sky. But as in other cases of seemingly inept homegrown terrorists, the four suspects were supplied (inert) weapons from an FBI informant, and in coming weeks we'll learn more about how much that informant goaded the four suspects into carrying out the supposed acts of terrorism. The case is being prosecuted in the Southern District of New York. (James Margolin, an FBI spokesman said the agency declines to comment for this story, because Fuller is a potential witness in an ongoing prosecution.)

FBI 'lured dimwits' into terror plot

“This whole operation was a foolish waste of time and money,” claimed Terence Kindlon, a defence lawyer who represented the last terror suspect to be tried in New York state. “It is almost as if the FBI cooked up the plot and found four idiots to install as defendants.”

Kindlon’s complaints were echoed by other legal experts who have repeatedly questioned the FBI’s reliance on undercover informants – known as confidential witnesses (CWs) – who lure gullible radicals into far-fetched plots that are then foiled by the agents monitoring them.

The last such plot purportedly involved an alleged attempt to blow up a fuel pipeline at John F Kennedy airport in New York in 2007; the defendants are awaiting trial in a case that depends heavily on evidence from an undercover CW.

“One question [about the synagogue case] that has to be answered is: did the informant go in and enlist people who were otherwise not considering trouble ?” said Kevin Luibrand, who represented a Muslim businessman caught up in another FBI sting three years ago. “Did the government induce someone to commit a crime?”

The other question that US security experts were debating was how much had been achieved by assigning more than 100 agents to a year-long investigation of three petty criminals and a mentally ill Haitian immigrant, none of whom had any connection with any known terrorist group. “They were all unsophisticated dimwits,” said Kindlon.

Cops overreact, crowd gets involved

Dear Readers,

Here is a short little video clip that should be shared far and wide. One little incident where official brutality was countered by the righteous indignation of the public.

In this clip, an exuberant soccer fan runs across the playing field. He shouldn’t do this of course. He should be apprehended, removed from the playing field and given a citation.

What happens instead is that multiple cops (in their internationally standardized black SWAT uniforms) get the guy on the ground and the cop near his head pulls out his nightstick and forcibly jams it into the prostrate man’s head multiple times.

So an inappropriate high-spirited prank from a sports fan is met with a brutal and unwarranted assault by Police.

This occurs on the playing field in front of everyone.

Emergency preparedness exercises held at banks

Deborah Seng pulled up to a bank drive-through today and left with a better idea of what to do in an public health emergency, such a bioterrorism attack or global pandemic.

She was one of dozens of people who participated an emergency preparedness exercise sponsored by the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health & Wellness that tested the use of bank drive-throughs to deliver medications in emergencies.

"I wanted to be prepared," said Seng, 51, of Portland, turning toward the health workers outside her car window: "Thanks for doing this!"

In the exercise, held at the National City Bank branches at 6511 Preston Highway and 2601 Bank St., workers gave about 200 drivers boxes of raisins representing antibiotics that would be used to treat people in the event of a bioterrorism attack with anthrax.

But health officials said the same distribution method could be used if, for example, swine flu became more virulent in the fall and vaccines or medicines needed to be distributed widely to the public.

"This model is basically adaptable to any number of disasters — natural or man-made," said Bill Wetter, preparedness manager for the local health department.

Avigdor: The US agrees with EVERYTHING WE SAY neener neener neener

TEL AVIV - Israel and the United States agree on what needs to be achieved with the Palestinians but not on how to achieve those goals, extremist Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Thursday.

"The meeting with (Barack) Obama showed that there is complete understanding with the United State concerning strategic targets," he told industrialists in reference to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's White House meeting with the US president on Monday.

"On the Palestinian issue, there is agreement as to the final destination," Lieberman said in Tel Aviv.

"Everyone wants to see security, economic prosperity, and stability. Perhaps there is a tactical disagreement as to what is the best way to attain these goals," Lieberman said, according to Israeli media.

IAF holds drill simulating all out war

Israel Air Force squadrons took part in a large scale drill simulating war on all fronts over the past four days, Channel 10 reported Thursday.

Fighter jets, cargo planes and missile defense systems of the corps took part in the drill where defense from a simultaneous attack against Israel from the south and the north was simulated.

Unlike previous drills, the air force did not train on long-range sorties, such as those that would be carried out during an offensive targeting Iran's nuclear facilities; the drill this past week focused on defending the country.

FCC's warrantless household searches alarm experts

You may not know it, but if you have a wireless router, a cordless phone, remote car-door opener, baby monitor or cellphone in your house, the FCC claims the right to enter your home without a warrant at any time of the day or night in order to inspect it.

That’s the upshot of the rules the agency has followed for years to monitor licensed television and radio stations, and to crack down on pirate radio broadcasters. And the commission maintains the same policy applies to any licensed or unlicensed radio-frequency device.

“Anything using RF energy — we have the right to inspect it to make sure it is not causing interference,” says FCC spokesman David Fiske. That includes devices like Wi-Fi routers that use unlicensed spectrum, Fiske says.

Obama is said to consider preventive detention plan

Lebanon Targets Israeli Spy Cells

BEIRUT - Nearly 20 suspected spies, including a butcher, a mobile phone salesman and a retired general, have been detained in recent months as part of a long-running probe by Lebanese intelligence into Israeli sleeper cells.

And more arrests are expected, security officials say.

The pace of the probe picked up significantly in April after investigators stumbled upon a cell planning to infiltrate the security apparatus of Lebanon's powerful Hezbollah.

Intelligence officials said they told Hezbollah about their discovery. From that point on the spy rings began to tumble like a house of cards.

"The suspects arrested were part of different cells, each numbering three people at the most, and were not connected," said General Ashraf Rifi, head of the Internal Security Forces.

"What helped us a lot is that we managed to uncover a technological secret which allowed us to put together the puzzle."

Rifi said Israel recruited most of the agents -- Christians, Sunnis or Shiites -- in the 1980s and 1990s during its 22-year occupation of southern Lebanon which ended in 2000.

"They used beautiful women, money and other bait to lure people into working for them," he said.

"They would pay them handsomely, say 5,000 to 7,000 dollars for their first mission. After that, Israel would drop the price significantly as it had these people hooked and would threaten to expose them unless they cooperated.

"Families and friends of most of the agents had no clue as to their double life."

4 Arrested in plot to bomb NYC Targets

NEW YORK - Four men arrested after planting what they thought were explosives near a synagogue and community center and plotting to shoot down a military plane were bent on carrying out a jihad against America, authorities said Thursday.

The suspects were arrested Wednesday night, shortly after planting a mock explosive device in the trunk of a car outside the Riverdale Temple and two mock bombs in the backseat of a car outside the Jewish Center, authorities said.

At a news conference outside the Bronx temple, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly quoted one of the men as saying, "If Jews were killed in this attack ... that would be all right."

AstraZeneca 'pushed drug for untested uses'

AstraZeneca launched a public relations push to get doctors to prescribe its best-selling psychiatric drug Seroquel for a string of uses that were not approved by safety regulators, according to a damning internal document released yesterday.

The UK's second biggest drug maker is being sued by 16,000 patients in the US for "spinning, skewing and concealing" information on the drug's potential side-effects, including diabetes and weight gain, and lawyers unearthed emails and strategy documents showing what they say are repeated violations of the law.

The company was forced on to the defensive yesterday after more than 230 internal documents were made public, supporting a legal assault that wil cost it hundreds of millions of dollars if successful.

Egypt warns of swine flu threat to Mecca pilgrims

CAIRO - Egyptian Health Minister Hatem al-Gabali warned in a newspaper interview on Wednesday of the dangers posed by swine flu to millions of Muslim pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia.

The minister said the government could not bar Egyptian pilgrims from travelling because the decision had to be made by Muslim clerics, but that the authorities could quarantine returning pilgrims.

Gabali told the independent daily Al-Masri Al-Yom that "there is a large possibility" the A(H1N1) virus, which has killed 80 people and infected roughly 10,000 in 39 countries, may reach Egypt with returning pilgrims.

Egypt, which is culling the country's 250,000 pigs, has not recorded any cases of infection so far.

Turkey wins support for EU membership

BRUSSELS, May 20 (UPI) -- Ankara received pledges of support for its accession to the European Union from the EU presidency and the European Commission despite modest opposition.

Olli Rehn, the EU commissioner for enlargement, said the commission is committed to the Turkish accession process following talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Brussels.

Rehn described Turkish membership to the European Union as a "fundamental interest" of the bloc, but added the accession process would be long, the EU Observer reports.

What's Netanyahu really afraid of?

The crux of the issue is that, Netanyahu, Israel’s military, and the War Party in the U.S. all believe that an Iran equipped with the technological capability for enriching uranium would have a credible nuclear deterrent and, therefore, would be unattackable. That scenario, as Thomas P.M. Barnett, the author of The Pentagon’s New Map: War and Peace in the Twenty-First Century, has put it, "would level the playing field by finally allowing the Muslim Middle East to sit one player at the negotiating table as Israel’s nuclear equal." Thus, Israel would no longer be able to force its will on its neighbors, a prospect that is not acceptable to the Israeli establishment and the American War Party.

Such a scenario would also have another consequence. A situation in which Israel’s government maintains a permanent state of war with its neighbors, but in which Israel and the Muslims are in equilibrium militarily, would halt immigration to Israel, even reverse it. That would be the ultimate existential threat to Israel. The only realistic way to prevent this from happening is for Israel to reach a just peace with the Palestinians and Syria and give up the dream of controlling the Litani River. But, Netanyahu, the Likud, and the Israeli establishment are incapable of making these happen, and the progressive forces that could force such a solution have practically disappeared from Israel’s political scene.

American Gothic Prediction from January 2006

I just stumbled across this while looking into the Sy Hersh/Dick Cheney/Benazir Bhutto story. Click through for the details.

In July of 1999, the woman with whom I was romantically involved at that time -- call her Gabrielle -- woke up, woke me up, and announced that she had just had an exceptionally vivid dream. A prophetic dream.

A dream in which airplanes flew into the World Trade Center -- "or buildings like the World Trade Center."

...

Naturally, I wanted to know who would commit such an act. "It won't be who they say it is," she answered.

She mentioned that there would be a war in Iraq as a result, even though Iraq would not be responsible. (She also mentioned Saudi Arabia, but the reference was quite vague. I could not discern how that country figured into this scenario.)

Before continuing, I should fill in some more backstory.

In the mid-1990s, before she met me, Gabrielle had had a series of troubling dreams depicting a "small" nuclear explosion in Chicago. In each dream, she viewed the event from a closer perspective. In one dream, she saw it from the point of view of a reporter flying in a commercial airliner not far from the event.

Naturally, I wanted to know if the New York event was connected with the nuclear event in Chicago. Yes, she said. In a way. But the explosion in Chicago would happen later.

Would the same people be responsible for both events, I asked?

Not really, she answered, although the events are linked. In both cases, she emphasized, "it won't be who they say it is."

"Terrorists?"

"Yes and no. It's like people from the government are involved. Or at least they know about it."

She said that the public would be told that Iran was responsible for the Chicago event. "After that, it's World War Three."

She intimated that things would not play out the way "they" planned, and that the war would spin out of all control.

I asked for more details about the "small" nuclear event in Chicago. She mentioned the Sears tower.

Water played a role in the scenario she envisioned; the device would be transported via boat. I reminded her that Chicago is on one of the Great Lakes. (For some reason, I couldn't remember which one!) She said that the boat would not be on a lake. "You know those movable bridges?" she asked. One of those bridges had something to do with the event.

"You know that picture of the farmer and his wife?" she asked. I took this as a reference to Grant Wood's American Gothic, which I once saw on loan in San Francisco. (Incidentally, the woman in the painting is actually the man's sister.) I vaguely recalled that the work's "home" is in Chicago. She felt that the painting would be destroyed by the blast, and that we would subsequently see the image reproduced ad infinitum in news accounts.

(One doesn't need ESP to foresee how the lost work would take on symbolic, even propagandistic, value.)

Since her unusual trance-like state might never occur again, I attempted to pinpoint a date for these events. She could give neither year nor month, although she insisted that the Chicago event would occur after the fall of the skyscrapers in New York City. (She did not intimate how long after; for some reason, I came under the impression that the two events would occur within fairly quick order.)

"When the bomb goes off in Chicago, do you see snow?" She didn't. It won't happen in the winter.

US health officials "troubled" by new flu pattern

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The new influenza strain circulating around most of the United States is putting a worrying number of young adults and children into the hospital and hitting more schools than usual, U.S. health officials said on Monday.

The H1N1 swine flu virus killed a vice principal at a New York City school over the weekend and has spread to 48 states. While it appears to be mild, it is affecting a disproportionate number of children, teenagers and young adults.

This includes people needing hospitalization -- now up to 200, said Dr. Anne Schuchat of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"That's very unusual, to have so many people under 20 to require hospitalization, and some of them in (intensive care units)," Schuchat told reporters in a telephone briefing.

Russia to hand over captured pirates to 3rd party

MOSCOW, May 19 (RIA Novosti) - Pirates seized by the Russian Navy will be transferred to a third party, the first deputy defense minister said on Tuesday.

"In accordance with existing law, pirates seized by Russian naval forces during patrols will be transferred to a third party," Col. Gen. Alexander Kolmakov said, without specifying which country might accept the pirates.

Twenty-nine suspected pirates were taken on board a Russian warship last month after carrying out an unsuccessful hijack attempt on a Liberian-flagged and Russian-crewed tanker.

Russia has found it difficult to find a country willing to take the detainees, and a deputy to the prosecutor general said last Tuesday that Somali pirates could be prosecuted under Russian laws.

Lieberman in charge of "strategic dialogue" with US

So far, the court-appointed trustee sorting through Wall Street's biggest investment fraud has located only about $1 billion to be distributed to defrauded customers -- a fraction of the $65 billion the confessed con man's records purported to have in nearly 7,000 client accounts when the FBI arrested him in December.

Trustee Irving Picard has signaled, however, that he is ramping up efforts to find more money, a ray of hope for victims if these funds can ever be tracked down and shared among them.

Israel warns of Facebook 'spies'

OMG like once, like, eight years ago?, like, this Israeli guy?, you know, he like got lured by this Palestinian woman he met on the internet?, you know, and, like, she killed him. Mmm hmm. So seriously. Be careful. - Ed.

Israel's internal intelligence service urged the public today to exercise caution when using Facebook, saying Arabs are trying to recruit spies on the popular social networking site.

The Shin Bet security agency warned Israelis against answering unsolicited messages or sharing telephone numbers and other sensitive information over the Internet. It said there have been numerous incidents recently in which violent groups tried to recruit Israelis through Facebook and other networking sites.

The agency said in one instance an Israeli Facebook user was contacted by a man who introduced himself as a Lebanese agent and offered money for information about Israel.

The Shin Bet said Israelis should be wary of seemingly innocent meetings or dates proposed online by people they don't know. These messages might be posted by militants with intention to kidnap or kill, it said.

"Terror organizations are using these sites to tempt Israelis to meet up in person in order to either abduct them, kill them or recruit them as spies," the Shin Bet said.

An Israeli teenager was killed eight years ago when he was lured to the West Bank by a young woman he met on the Internet.

Hezbollah ready to defend itself against Israel

BEIRUT - Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah on Monday vowed his Lebanese party stands ready to defend itself against Israel, as Tel Aviv readies large-scale military exercises later this month.

"There is a possibility, albeit small, that Israel may be preparing to launch a new surprise war and is readying its people for such an eventuality," Nasrallah said in a televised address.

"If Israel plans on pulling anything during the manoeuvres (May 31 to June 4), we're sending it a message that we stand ready and they will fail," he added. "We will not bury our heads in the sand.

SHUNEH, - Israel's nuclear bombs arsenal poses "the real danger" in the Middle East and not Iran's civilian nuclear programme, Arab League chief Amr Musa said on Sunday.

"The real danger as far as nuclear military programmes are concerned is posed by Israel and not Iran," Musa said during a panel discussion on the future of Middle East peacemaking at the World Economic Forum in Jordan.

"We don't see Iran as the main issue. The vast majority of Arabs does not see Iran as the main issue. Why should we engage with Iran and with Israel?"

We are ruled by psychopaths.

Tony Blair is a psychopath.

The Queen & Royal Family are psychopaths.

The Bushes are psychopaths.

The Rothschilds & Rockefellers (etc.) are psychopaths.

Angela Merkel (German Chancellor) is a psychopath.

The Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch is a psychopath.

And so on.

What is a psychopath? It is someone who is born without the gene that creates "conscience", "compassion". (And the one aberration not covered by the Mental Health Act. Lucky for them).

One in every 25 people born are psychopaths.

How, do you think, these people can get a good night's sleep if they were in any way troubled by the outright murder and mayhem - of innocents - they have caused? (Think Afghanistan, think Iraq, think Lebanon)

If you keep the bloodlines pure (as these families do), that missing gene will never return. Therefore all subsequent children will be psychopaths.

Only the occasional psychopath becomes an "Axe Murderer". 99.999999% hide their deficiency ... but use it all the time.

How likely is that? Despite the pervasiveness of cash in society, its role in transmitting illness has been the subject of surprisingly little study. 2009 swine flu outbreak timeline and the "hate crimes" act

April 1--The first reported case of swine flu in the US is in San Diego.

April 2--HR 1913, the "Hate Crimes" Act is introduced in the US House.

Between April 2 and the 27th, disinfo outlets like CNN and FOX go on a 24/7 hysteria fest, barking like mad dogs who just snorted some meth about the swine flu. Major media outlets like the New York Times didn't see fit to report on the Hate Crimes legislation until April 29.

Guess the Times was too busy spending money and time on the dozens of stories they ran about the swine flu.

During this time, the ADL is busy behind the scenes, cajoling, threatening and maybe even bribing the House to pass the ADL's Hate Crime Laws.

Judging by the scale, volume and shrill nature of the reports one would have assumed the world was about to be consumed in a heaven-sent ball of fire with all life on earth destroyed.

From his most recent barrage of public statements, we have gleaned that he loves Rush Limbaugh, doesn't much care for Colin Powell, believes President Obama is about to sell the Sixth Fleet to the Taliban for pennies on the dollar and thinks torture is a nifty and effective tool that saves lives and defends freedom. Really, this isn't anything we haven't heard before from our growly, snarly, face-blasting former vice president. But it does beg the question: What the hell is he up to? NPR's Ron Elving posited the question in a Wednesday article titled "What is Dick Cheney Trying to Accomplish?"

Saudi 'killer chip' implant would track, eliminate undesirables

It could be the ultimate in political control — but it won’t be patented in Germany.

German media outlets reported last week that a Saudi inventor’s application to patent a “killer chip,” as the Swiss tabloids put it, had been denied.

The basic model would consist of a tiny GPS transceiver placed in a capsule and inserted under a person’s skin, so that authorities could track him easily.

Model B would have an extra function — a dose of cyanide to remotely kill the wearer without muss or fuss if authorities deemed he’d become a public threat.

The inventor said the chip could be used to track terrorists, criminals, fugitives, [also these people, OBVIOUSLY just as dangerous as terrorists criminals and fugitives:] illegal immigrants, political dissidents, domestic servants and foreigners overstaying their visas.

Humans ate the neanderthals into extinction

PARIS, FRANCE - Anthropologists have long been baffled by the mysterious disapearance of the Neanderthals about 30,000 years ago. But one expert thinks he has the answer - we ate them.

Reported in the Journal of Anthropological Sciences, the conclusion is based on markings found on a Neanderthal jawbone found in Les Rois, in south-west France. Cuts on the bone look remarkably similar to those found on deer and other animals butchered by humans.
