Taxpayers off the hook for GOP convention lawsuits

Well well well. Look at this. The police were given a free hand, knowing whatever they 'broke' -- like anyone's constitutional rights -- would be fixed by an insurance policy. So no wonder they behaved the way they did. In fact, they were probably told to be assholes, just to test the waters and see how the American people will react, how deep is the resistance, etc. Nothing but a big laboratory. - Ed.

ST. PAUL (AP) ― Taxpayers should be off the hook for any damages stemming from claims of police misconduct related to the Republican National Convention under a first-of-its-kind agreement.

The deal required the Republican Party's host committee to buy insurance covering up to $10 million in damages and unlimited legal costs for law enforcement officials accused of brutality, violating civil rights and other misconduct.
