New Delhi: The government is closely monitoring the situation in the Kurseong block in Darjeeling in West Bengal after the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries notified the outbreak of avian influenza there on February 24.
So far, 644 birds have been culled in the affected block.
A Central Rapid Response team of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been deputed to assist the State health authorities.
Containment operations are on, as also surveillance within 0-3 km. and 3-10 km. radius.
The district authorities have been provided with adequate personal protective equipment, said an official press note.
Pamuka, Burito to move out to curb spread of bird flu The city administration plans to relocate the two bird markets of Pramuka in Central Jakarta and Barito in South Jakarta to other locations away from residential areas, to help curb the spread of bird flu.
