Medvedev says signals from Obama 'very positive'

MOSCOW, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday that the signals Moscow has been receiving from the new U.S. administration are encouraging.

The signals sent by U.S. President Barack Obama are "very positive," Medvedev told a meeting with members of a U.S. commission that studies American policies toward Russia.

Iran says nuclear plant to start operating by 8/22/09

TEHRAN (AFP) — Iran said on Tuesday that its much-delayed nuclear power plant, where testing began last month, would start operating by August 22.

The 1,000-megawatt Russian-built plant in the southern port city of Bushehr will first generate around 500 megawatts by August 22, Energy Minister Parviz Fattah said, quoted by state television's website.
