G20 protesters are circulating detailed pamphlets advising people on how to win street battles against riot police and what to do if arrested.

Thousands of people are expected to bring the City of London to a standstill on Wednesday and Thursday, as popular anger over government bailouts of the banking sector reaches fever pitch.

The vast majority of protests are likely to be peaceful but the Metropolitan Police claims extremist and anarchist groups might resort to violence.

Economic Crisis Fueling Civil Unrest in US

Five people have been shot dead in California in what appears to be another sign of a social crisis on the back of falling US economy.

Two others -- a child and an adult -- suffering from bad wounds, were transferred to a nearby clinic Sunday night.

According to the police the shooting spree is thought to be part of a murder-suicide, with the gunman believed to be among the dead, CNN reported.

The Santa Clara home shooting in California came at a time, when the US society is already marred by an emerging social unrest mainly because of the credit crunch.

Five held over suspected plot to disrupt G20 summit with explosives stunt

Five people have been arrested in connection with a suspected plot to use explosives made from fireworks to disrupt the G20 summit.

The three men, aged 25, 19 and 16, and two women, both 20, all live in Plymouth and the surrounding area. They are political activists unaffiliated to any terrorist organisation, and were arrested at addresses in Plymouth. They are being held under terrorism legislation. The explosive devices were made from simple fireworks, police said.
