Winter Patriot: Screwed Again, Sy Hersh spins it

Famed investigative reporter Seymour Hersh ruffled a few feathers last week with comments in Minnesota regarding an alleged "executive assassination ring" -- a squad of elite killers who have allegedly been infiltrating foreign countries and murdering ... well, officially, nobody knows who their victims have been, really, but if this story were officially acknowledged (whatever that means these days), we would no doubt be told that the alleged victims of the alleged murders were "the worst of the worst", without whom America will now be safer, huzzah huzzah.

OK, look. I know Noah Shachtman is a (presumably) well-paid, well-connected journalist working for a respected media outlet, and I am a nobody blogger with no connections doing this for free. So take it for what it's worth, but if you think these guys are just working out the kinks now and will have some trouble rustling up $100 million to "get it right," take another hit off that crack pipe.

Here's a little sample of my laser library. Click through some of the links in these posts to see what I mean. When I wrote this stuff, the Pentagon showed up in my stats, and I had about 3 readers at the time. So what does that tell you?

A Laser Beam? 1/4/08

Excerpt from Laser Technology:

JOURNALIST: Mr. Secretary, can I ask you a question about some of the technology that you’re developing to fight the war on terrorists, specifically directed energy and high-powered microwave technology? Do you—when do you envision that you can weaponize that type of technology?

DONALD RUMSFELD: Goodness, it is in—for the most part, the kinds of things you’re talking about are in varying early stages. Do you want to—do you have anything you would add?

GEN. RICHARD MYERS: I don’t think I would add much. I think they are in early stages and probably not ready for employment at this point.

DONALD RUMSFELD: In the normal order of things, when you invest in research and development and begin a developmental project, you don’t have any intention or expectations that one would use it. On the other hand, the real world intervenes from time to time, and you reach in there and take something out that is still in a developmental stage, and you might use it. So the—your question’s not answerable. It is—it depends on what happens in the future and how well things move along the track and whether or not someone feels it’s appropriate to reach into a development stage and see if something might be useful, as was the case with the unmanned aerial vehicles.

JOURNALIST: But you sound like you’re willing to experiment with it.

GEN. RICHARD MYERS: Yeah, I think that’s the point. And I think—and it’s—we have, I think, from the beginning of this conflict—I think General Franks has been very open to looking at new things, if there are new things available, and has been willing to put them into the fight, even before they’ve been fully wrung out. And I think that’s—not referring to these particular cases of directed energy or high-powered microwave, but sure. And we will continue to do that.

I don’t know how you read that, but to me it sounds like these gentlemen had no qualms about using live human beings as guinea pigs for their cool new weapons toys that US taxpayers pony up a half a billion dollars a year to develop.

Think of it this way. If someone parked a Lamborghini in your driveway, left the keys in the ignition, and passed out in a drunken stupor on your couch at 3am, would you take the car out for a spin? Just around the block for shits and giggles?

Oh, and by the way, you’re a cop. Does that help you decide?

Aha!! The true psyop comes out in the Washington Post

AIG hires renta-cops to protect bankers against "mob effect" (hint hint hint hint hint....I think they want us to do the "mob effect" thing soon.... - Ed.)

A tidal wave of public outrage over bonus payments swamped American International Group yesterday. Hired guards stood watch outside the suburban Connecticut offices of AIG Financial Products, the division whose exotic derivatives brought the insurance giant to the brink of collapse last year. Inside, death threats and angry letters flooded e-mail inboxes. Irate callers lit up the phone lines. Senior managers submitted their resignations. Some employees didn’t show up at all.

“It’s a mob effect,” one senior executive said. “It’s putting people’s lives in danger.”

Congressional Hypocrisy

Excerpt:

Senator Grassley is a ranking member of the Senate Finance Committe. As such, he presided over a decade of erosion of safeguards and balance in our financial system.

He is also a member of a political party and a government that had the lead in ruining our country, undermining the Constitution, and allowing financial racketeers like AIG to flourish.

The fellows at AIG are indeed amoral pigs, and they make no pretentions to be otherwise, whereas Chuck Grassley and his ilk are venal hypocrites who are attempting to deflect attention from their own significant role in the current financial crisis, and a disastrous foreign policy conducted under false pretenses for the enrichment of private interests and corporations.

Those who take his pious pronouncements seriously are born to be shorn, over and over, again and again.

Isn't it amazing how they can pull together when they want to? how much weight? how much weight?

A remarkably blithe discussion of Israel's options for attacking Iran

A new report has assessed that Israel could use ballistic missiles to attack Iranian nuclear facilities, rather than air power. The report also warns that such action could trigger a response that would escalate to include the use of WMDs.

Abdullah Toukan of the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) wrote that Israel's use of Jericho III missiles to strike Iran's nuclear sites "could look much more feasible than using combat aircraft," because of the lower political and operational risks Israel would face in such an attack, since Iran still lacks an adequate missile defense system.

Toukan estimated Israel would need about 40 Jericho IIIs for the initial volley, and cautioned that an Israeli-Iranian ballistic missile exchange would turn Jordan and neighboring countries into "Ground Zero."

ABC News: Don't you dare complain, because it could have been worse. You're lucky we don't screw you twice as bad. Suckers.

When AIG chief executive officer Edward M. Liddy argued that legal obligations made it nearly impossible for the bailed-out firm not to pay $165 million in retention bonuses, critics found it hard to imagine a worse scenario for taxpayers whose money has already been used to keep the company afloat.

But AIG and legal experts agree that, as far as payouts to employees go, it could indeed be worse -- twice as bad, to be exact.

If the crumbling insurance giant didn't make good on its retention packages, employees could sue the firm for at least $330 million -- double the total size of the bonuses.

Fire Sale of bank assets will hurt taxpayers

Statement of SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger on Secretary Geithner's latest TALF proposal

Washington, DC --Treasury Secretary Geithner's plan to invite private equity and hedge fund investors to a fire sale of bank assets is a return to the very same policies and practices that triggered the financial crisis in the first place.

Secretary Geithner's proposal for the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF) would enable private equity firms and hedge funds to buy up higher quality loan securitizations, including auto, consumer, student and small business loans. The Federal government would provide low-cost financing for up to 95% of the purchase price, with private firms putting down as little as 5% and the securitizations as collateral. The hope is then to expand this proposal to include toxic mortgage-backed securities.

Masses of people deciding to produce even a small amount of their own food has got to be the ultimate pants shitting event for the elite. Small scale food production is a very dangerous path. It can lead to a near wholesale rejection of the programming that makes the status quo horror show possible. Bede Vincent Curley: I do not know what is to be done in the US.... Thinking people can see that most Americans veer between manic-depression and paranoid-schizophrenia. While they know they are getting kicked around by the rich, there's such a strong tradition of obedience to authority in America that most people just take it in stride and just get on with their lives. This is a population with an severe "abuse" problem. I compare it to the compulsive behavior among women and children who've lived in abusive relationships. The sickness passes from one generation to the next without interruption. It is a condition that has to be treated, which means creating a process where the person can see that the violence being done to them is violence and not love. America is a nation badly in need of therapy.

Inevitability...

Excerpt:

Now see this….

Humanity, this planet, and all that encompass it, are as a large body of water, a river flowing.

Israel/USA, are a hand, stirring the water as they have done for some time now believing that they control the flow of the water, influence it. Splashing in the water will draw attention……..

But as anyone will tell you….remove the hand from the water and the river will continue to flow in it’s inevitable course. There is no hole left where the hand once was in the water.

This renders the hand that stirred the water inconsequential, irrelevant in the course of the flow of the water.

Israel/USA are the hand. It tires. It becomes weary. It has spent its energy.

When they are inevitably removed, the river will continue to flow, and they Israel/USA will prove themselves irrelevant. They will cease to exist.

This is the law. Think about it. And rejoice.

Gold and the Panic Phase

A couple of bright friends reported to me some overriding themes at the PDAC gathering in Toronto last weekend. Apparently, some surprise came to them. They mentioned that more than a few analysts, writers, and speakers still do not get it. They actually believe the situation with the USEconomy and US banking system has begun to stabilize. That is like saying a college basketball player has Michael Jordan under control, or a farmer has his Clydesdale horse under control, or a misguided King can call back the ocean tide, or a man has a hurricane under control as he clings to a roof rafter. The USEconomy has entered an accelerated phase of disintegration, while the populace has entered a new panic phase. The US stock market is under the microscope, and it just broke a key multi-year critical support level. This article is intended to be constructive, with a list of perceived meters and conditions, followed by a four-step foundation for a recovery. When finished reading the four planks, one should easily conclude that no solution, let alone attempt, is on the correct path or is in the works.

What does that look like? I mean, these various numbers are tossed around like so many doggie treats, so I thought I'd take Google Sketchup out for a test drive and try to get a sense of what exactly a trillion dollars looks like.

Sy Hersh describes 'executive assassination ring'

At a “Great Conversations” event at the University of Minnesota last night, legendary investigative reporter Seymour Hersh may have made a little more news than he intended by talking about new alleged instances of domestic spying by the CIA, and about an ongoing covert military operation that he called an “executive assassination ring.”

Hersh spoke with great confidence about these findings from his current reporting, which he hasn’t written about yet.

In an email exchange afterward, Hersh said that his statements were “an honest response to a question” from the event’s moderator, U of M Political Scientist Larry Jacobs and “not something I wanted to dwell about in public.”

Hersh didn’t take back the statements, which he said arise from reporting he is doing for a book, but that it might be a year or two before he has what he needs on the topic to be “effective...that is, empirical, for even the most skeptical.”

In February 2006, I chronicled some of then vice president Cheney's little-known shenanigans.

Given Pulitzer-prize winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh's new revelation that the military ran an "Executive Assassination Ring" throughout the Bush years which reported directly to Cheney, I have reposted below - as context - my 2006 essay, called "All Roads Lead to Dick Cheney".

Madoff's resufal on conspiracy said to block deal

Ah ah ah ah staying alive, staying alive....ah ah ah ah staying a-liiiiiiiiiiiiiive. (That's a Bee Gee's song for you young pups.) - Ed

March 12 (Bloomberg) -- Bernard Madoff, facing a lifelong sentence for the largest Ponzi scheme in history, didn’t agree to a plea deal with prosecutors because of their demand that he admit to a conspiracy, a charge that would require him to say he worked with others, said people familiar with the matter.

Madoff’s decision not to negotiate a deal means the government won’t have his help in determining whether his employees assisted in the fraud, the people said. Madoff, 70, will plead guilty today to all 11 counts he faces without any promise of leniency or anything else in return. He could receive 150 years in prison at sentencing on charges including fraud, perjury and money laundering.

The Martyrdom of Mordechai Vanunu

March 10, 2009

The best understanding of a martyr is one who chooses to suffer, to die rather than renounce their principles. A martyr is also one who has given themselves up as a witness. The essence of Christianity is to bear witness to what Jesus was always on about; forgiveness, love, reconciliation and the intrinsic equality of all people.

Within days of the announcement of a record 205 nominations for 2009’s Nobel Peace Prize, [one of several prizes endowed by Swedish industrialist and dynamite inventor Alfred Nobel] perpetual nominee Mordechai Vanunu declined the honor in a letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Oslo:

I am asking the committee to remove my name from the nominations…I cannot be part of a list of laureates that includes Simon Peres…Peres established and developed the atomic weapon program in Dimona in Israel…Peres was the man who ordered [my] kidnapping…he continues to oppose my freedom and release…WHAT I WANT IS FREEDOM AND ONLY FREEDOM….FREEDOM AND ONLY FREEDOM I NEED NOW.

US intelligence chief rains on Israel's 'let's bomb Iran' parade

The issue of Iran’s so-called ‘nuclear weapons program’ continues to be propped up by the Israeli propaganda machine and is unlikely to be resolved until, if Israel has its way, Iran has been bombed into regime change.

Unfortunately – for the Israelis at least – and fortunately for the rest of the sane world, it seems as though the more sensible and realistic members of the US intelligence community’s hierarchy are raining on Israel’s ‘lets bomb Iran’ parade by telling the US Congress that Iran does not have any material with which they can build a bomb; that Iran is not known to have any facilities by which it is able to produce uranium enriched to the levels required for a nuclear weapon; that Iran has not made any decision to build a nuclear weapon, and that Irans recent launching of the Safir Space Launch Vehicle, while helpful in ballistic missile technology, was unrelated to Iran’s current nuclear project.

Terrorist watch list hits 1 million, yet we're still alive!!! It's a miracle.

Washington - The government's terrorist watch list has hit 1 million entries, up 32% since 2007.

Federal data show the rise comes despite the removal of 33,000 entries last year by the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center in an effort to purge the list of outdated information and remove people cleared in investigations.

It's unclear how many individuals those 33,000 records represent - the center often uses multiple entries, or "identities," for a person to reflect variances in name spellings or other identifying information. The remaining million entries represent about 400,000 individuals, according to the center.

Economic fiasco forces housewife to nix house cleaning from budget

by Sharon Hebert

Due to a price increase at Merry Maids, I have been forced to postpone my top-to-bottom spring cleaning routine this year from March 21st to April 21st. I simply do not have the cash to get my house clean.

As it happened, while I was watching the fall reruns of American Idol, a stampede of bears from Wall Street hopped my garden fence and trampled my harvest, so I am left with no organics to feed my children and the sticker prices at Whole Foods are draining our Disney Vacation slush fund.

I phoned Merry Maids, but due to a recent raid by INS, they have been forced to hire locals and offer health benefits because, according to the Department of Labor and Statistics, people below the 150 percentile poverty level get just as sick and just as often as us middle class folk. Therefore, the adjusted hourly rate is too steep for my household budget this year.

I’m determined to tackle the job on my own, but the February issue of Martha Stuart Living magazine has issued a warning on the hazards of inhaling oven cleaner fumes. To add insult to injury, the handle on my new synthetic swiffer mop contains lead paint. I tried to save money by purchasing it at The Dollar Store, but as my Mom always says, “A penny wise, a pound foolish.”

Those Green Products are simply out of the question. I’m all for saving the environment - don’t get me wrong, I do still manage to send a little something to Save The Polar Bear Fund each year - but they simply do not cut through grease like the old toxic-shock mixes at Home Depot. My neighbor, Naomi, swears by them, but they are so very expensive (which would explain the orange sticky-note from Wells Fargo tacked to her front door).

So I am forced to live with this mess and push my annual cleaning date off into the future. Nobody knows how long this will last, but I am told these things do come in cycles, and as the nature of cycles go, this mess will get turned around as soon as the government’s economic stimulus kicks in.

Perhaps I should just let go of my anxieties and resume my Tuesday morning coffee dates with the neighborhood housewives. The country cottage look is coming back in style anyway and opulence is SO last year!

Anyone would agree, I am sure, that April is a more suitable month for cleaning since it always snows in March now and it’s not really a month for opening up the windows to aerate the abode. If I could just get the ear of my congressman, I would petition to switch the official first day of spring to April 21st and this whole spring cleaning fiasco would no longer be an issue.

If my guests comment on those dust balls gathering under my Pottery Barn baker’s rack like mini tumbleweeds in the wild, wild West, I’ll blame it on those damn bears. Times are certainly tough, but I am a survivalist at heart.

Freeman speaks out on his exit

Retired Amb. Chas Freeman, who said today that he no longer accepts an offer to chair the National Intelligence Council, has just sent this message:

You will by now have seen the statement by Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair reporting that I have withdrawn my previous acceptance of his invitation to chair the National Intelligence Council.

I have concluded that the barrage of libelous distortions of my record would not cease upon my entry into office. The effort to smear me and to destroy my credibility would instead continue. I do not believe the National Intelligence Council could function effectively while its chair was under constant attack by unscrupulous people with a passionate attachment to the views of a political faction in a foreign country. I agreed to chair the NIC to strengthen it and protect it against politicization, not to introduce it to efforts by a special interest group to assert control over it through a protracted political campaign.

Pass the Crack Pipe

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday that the federal government may have to spend even more money to shore up the nation's ailing economy, on top of the more than $1.6 trillion so far approved by Congress.

With the jobless rate rising and the economy continuing to slow, Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters: "We have to keep the door open to see how this goes."

Pelosi's remarks came after senior House Democrats met behind closed doors with four prominent economists, who praised the actions taken by Washington to ease the effects of a recession that threatens to be the most severe since the 1930s. The $787 billion stimulus package, a $700 billion bailout for the U.S. financial system and President Obama's proposal to stem the tide of residential foreclosures are all sound policies that should begin to make a difference in the coming months, they told lawmakers.

A 'phase change' in public mood

I used to be a fan of Kunstler until I realized that he's a tool. Look how he fans the flames of riots and 'phase change.' He's just dying to help the police state get on its feet, the Zionist pig. Embedded in an otherwise good piece by Tim Iacono. Gee, Jim, how much did they pay you to make this helpful suggestion that we become a 'vicious mob'? - Ed.

Excerpt:

The bigger question for now is whether any of these authorities will act effectively before the public simply goes apeshit and starts burning down Greenwich, Connecticut. The dangerous shift in public mood is liable to occur with shocking swiftness, in the manner of "phase change," where one moment you see a bewildered bunch of flabby clown-citizens vacuously enraptured by "American Idol," and the next moment they are transformed into a vicious mob hoisting flaming brands to the window treatments of a hedge funder's McMansion. The moment of opportunity for avoiding that outcome is looking sickeningly slim right now.

Attorneys defending the former owners of the Agriprocessors kosher meatpacking plant in Postville have now played the Holocaust card in a trial that has become a bizarre chess game of strategy and counterstrategy.

Les Vis: Apocalypse...Revealing...Disclosing and Unveiling

Hardly a day goes by when I don’t reflect on the definition of Apocalypse. Once again, here it is… “uncover, reveal, disclose, unveil” and there are others as well but not applicable to my purpose and in some cases there is also the implication of concealment and covering. Revelation is also an interesting word and shares quite a few of the definitions of Apocalypse. Then there’s whether you look at it as ‘The’ Apocalypse with the four horsemen and all the attendant special effects or, ‘the’ Revelations from the New Testament. I’m supposing any number of people can spend their whole life studying these things and still not know much about them in the end. Well now… you know what? Now that I think about it, I am sure that is the case more often than not.

The woman who could have prevented this mess was silenced by Greenspan, Rubin and Summers

"Break the Glass" was the code-name high-level Treasury Department figures gave the $700 billion bailout; it was to be used only as a last-resort measure. Now millions have been sprayed and damaged by broken glass. But more than a decade ago, a woman you're likely never to have heard of, Brooksley Born, head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission -- a federal agency that regulates options and futures trading -- was the oracle whose warnings about the dangerous boom in derivatives trading just might have averted the calamitous bust now engulfing the US and global markets. Instead she was met with scorn, condescension and outright anger by former Federal Reserve Chair Alan Greenspan, former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin and his deputy Lawrence Summers. In fact, Greenspan, the man some affectionately called "The Oracle," spent his political capital cheerleading these disastrous financial instruments.

Greenwald parses the changing Israel debate

Anyone who doubts that there has been a substantial -- and very positive -- change in the rules for discussing American policy towards Israel should consider two recent episodes: (1) the last three New York Times columns by Roger Cohen; and (2) the very strong pushback from a diverse range of sources against the neoconservative lynch mob trying, in typical fashion, to smear and destroy Charles Freeman due to his critical (in all senses of the word) views of American policy towards Israel. Please don't riot...it's just what they want

by David Icke

As I travel around America it is clear that this country is on the brink of an economic catastrophe the like of which it has never seen. And, of course, it is not alone. A similar story can be told around the world.

The foreclosure figures are fantastic as families and others lose their homes through no fault of their own on a scale that, according to current projections, is destined to become a tidal wave.

The credit explosion was orchestrated through Illuminati agents and Satanists like Alan Greenspan, who represents the interests of the Illuminati’s Bilderberg Group, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission and other far more exclusive and sinister secret societies.

Greenspan was the long-time head of the privately-owned ‘US central bank’, the Federal Reserve. Once his policies had manipulated as much personal and commercial debt as possible the plug was pulled on the system to trigger what is designed to be global economic meltdown.

Greenspan, who led ‘the Fed’ under Reagan, Father Bush, Clinton and Boy Bush, operates at a deeper level within the Illuminati network than most of their public figures, and I was told by a former Satanist, an unofficial offspring of the Rothschild family, how he remembered Greenspan at sacrifice rituals he attended:

‘I can recall the Rockefellers and the Bushes attending rituals, but never having the supremacy to lead them. I still regard them as lackeys and not real brokers of occult power. Except for Alan Greenspan, most of these fellows were camp followers in the occult, primarily for the economic power and prestige. Greenspan, I recall, was a person of tremendous spiritual, occult power and could make the Bushes and the younger Rockefellers cower with just a glance.’

This, then, is the man who was controlling the United States economy from 1987 to 2006 and who, as planned, oversaw the insane economic policies that led to the current global collapse. Go to another level of understanding and you can see that Greenspan and other Illuminati place-men throughout the world knew exactly what they were doing and what the outcome was planned to be.

Israeli troops open fire on women outside mosque

This story should come as no surprise to anyone. Successive Israeli governments have given ample evidence over the past 60 years that, in their opinion, Palestinian life is worth little more than that of the animals that extreme orthodox Jews sacrifice to their destroyer god "Yahweh". Indeed, at least on a symbolic level, the murder of Palestinian men, women and children by Israeli soldiers is seen by Zionists as a similar type of blood offering to the all-too-human "god" that "promised them Palestine" 2,500 years ago.

With such callous disregard for the life of other human beings, what does anyone expect the end result of the manufactured "Middle East crisis" to be, other than the murder of probably millions of innocent people, Arabs and Jews alike, with only the Zionist leaders escaping unscathed, as always.

Scientists say pandemic is CERTAIN, so who wants to be a hero?

Scientists say pandemic is certain --Expert panel tells emergency managers it's just a matter of when the avian flu will spark a pandemic. By Stephanie Backus 07 Mar 2009 Many scientists are now sure that a version of H5N1, or the avian flu, will cause a pandemic in the future. While speaking to health officials at the National Emergency Management Summit Thursday, several experts said the issue was no longer an "if" issue, it was now "when." "Grief and loss is a certainty in planning for the pandemic," said P.J. Havice-Cover, a mental health professional and program coordinator for the state of Colorado. "You can respect and normalize people's grieving processes by giving them updates on progress. Don't just ignore the losses. If you're in a position to inform the public, talk about it. Community memorial services are very important." She said it was also important to be prepared to be quarantined for months at a time. Quarantine could be an important part of the fight against a pandemic. "When you're talking to people, voice your appreciation for those in quarantine. Talk about how they're hometown heroes and doing waht they need to be doing in order to protect the community," said Havice-Cover.

Propaganda: Vaccines are just GREAAAAT!!

THURSDAY, March 5 (HealthDay News) -- Boosting T-cell immunity may be one way to improve existing vaccines so that they can protect people during a bird flu pandemic, says an Australian study.

"The 'killer T-cell' is the hit-man of the immune system. It is able to locate and destroy virus-infected cells in our body, helping rid us of infections," the study's lead author, Stephen Turner, from the microbiology and immunology department at the University of Melbourne, said in a university news release.

"Unfortunately, current influenza vaccines are poor at inducing killer T-cell immunity," he said. "Therefore, we wanted to see if we could improve the current vaccine formulation to induce killer T-cells after vaccination."

Turner and his fellow researchers added a compound known to increase immunity to a flu vaccine.

"The addition of this compound promoted significant generation of potent killer T- cell immunity and provided protection from infection," he said. "The significance of these findings is that, rather than having to design a new vaccine altogether, we can improve current flu vaccines by adding this potent immune modulator."
